Nuance- everyone having to change schedules... - anon

Posted: Nov 21, 2011

So, what's everybody think about the new policy of having to change our schedules to either Sun-Th or Tues-Sat?  I'm fuming, especially with them doing it right before the holidays, and I don't understand why they didn't just ask for volunteers first.  I'm looking elsewhere.  They've put us through way too much since Nuance taking over, and I've stuck it out until now.  But, I don't know if there's very many companies out there that let you have M-F or not???  I'll have to try to find out...     thanks for listening!

Nuance has always had Sun-Thur or Tues-Sat. - blondie

I was there when it was just Focus, and it was that way. So I guess I'm used to it now. The only thing I like about it is I work Sun-thurs, and I get my Fridays and Saturdays off. Most companies I see on the job boards require 1 weekend day. Were you with Webmedx previously?

Mon-Fri - nn

Pretty much have to be doing clinic work to get that schedule anymore. There may be a few companies that still allow it, but I personally, am glad to see them make everyone share in the weekend burden. I had to bite the bullet about 10 years ago and I honestly don't mind it now.
What I do hate is these newbies straight out of school thinking they should have M-F day shift while the rest of us have paid our dues to get to a better shift. Sorry... had to vent a little.

Exactly ... that was the point I was trying to make - in the post below

I love it when new employees think they can just "walk into" a M-F shift when those of us who have been with the company over a decade have had to work our way into them. Sheesh.

Frankly I think that is the only fair way to do things. Everyone - works one weekend day

I have done it for years and years. I don't even get my 2 days off in a row! Not a problem for me. I am happy as heck to have a job in this economy.
And if there's not enough work on weekends due to overstaffing? - nothing fair about it

I spent many a weekend fighting for work and unable to meet my 40 hours due to too many people "having" to work the weekends, sparse dictation, and everyone electing to make up any lost hours that day and poaching our scheduled work.

One weekend day is the norm - MME

M-F schedules are generally reserved for those who are tenured with a company. Those schedules have to be earned and don't come around very often anymore unless you are willing to work 3rd shift in the middle of the night. Almost every company now is going to the Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs scheduling now, especially for new hires. This way, they ensure weekend coverage and keep their accounts within TAT.

Sep 22, 2012

How Many Nuance Employees Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb?
Jan 06, 2015

First is upper management, 1 of 3 anyway because 2 of them are on vacation for a whole week, who finds a chair and then passes it down to lower management who then places it in front of the MT to stand on. The MT stands on the chair but first they must remove the still working fine bulb that is in place and throw it away. They are then given a defective bulb by the SR folks and told by management they must successfully place 10 of them per hour in order to meet the standards. After twisting a ...

IC Schedules
Sep 08, 2010

I am new to independent contractor status, so I just have a few questions, so bear with me.  I will be contracted with a company to do the work, who is contracted with the the business that needs the work done.  I was told of the work schedule.  I was told by a legal person that ICs set their own schedules; days/hours to work.  So which is it?  Can the transcription company that I would contract with tell me the hours I need to work or can I tell them which hours/days I ...

MT Schedules
Jan 27, 2011

I thought usual MT shifts involved one weekend work day a week.  Is this normal?  I was offered both weekend nights and obviously they are "allowed" to do what they want, but seems a little unfair.  I don't expect any nasty responses of like take what you can get sort of thing, I am just trying to get a consensus of schedules and if I should bring this up, considering there won't be any work on the weekends... thanks ya'll ...

No Set Schedules?
Jun 08, 2013

Are there any companies anymore that do not require you to set in stone your hours that you want to work?  The company I work for now has a 12-hour timeframe that you can do your 8 hours in, but its one of those things that when you start, if you get up or get a phone call or have to do anything whatsoever, the time is counted off of your productive time, and you have to add it back on the back end so you end up working throughout the whole 12 hours to get your 8. What if I don't want ...

Companies With Employee Status That Offer Flexible Schedules?
Aug 05, 2012

I know this has probably been asked so many times on this board, but I am currently working for a company as an employee, full time, and I'd really like to move on. I've been there 6 years and the only thing that is holding me back right now is the fact that I need to have a flexible schedule and I don't really want IC status.  Right now, I work 2 hours in the morning and 6-7 hours in the evenings. However, if one of my kids has a dance class or karate in the evening and I&# ...
