What is it with these companies? There is not a single company out there that is worth working for! I have been through most of the natonals and they all stink. even my current company, which I thought would be the one, stinks! (IMO)

How does one resolve such hypocrisy? Getting another job does not seem feasible since there are no other jobs unless we retrain. We are in a state of necessary evil. But I don't blame the MTSOs so much as I blame our government for pressuring MTSOs to send our work overseas.

What exactly are you looking for that they are not providing? I'm very happy with my MTSO, benefits are great, supervisor is great, very flexible with my schedule. Pay could be better, but who is ever satisfied with what they are making, we all want more.

Yes. I've been with 2 companies, both for a little over 12 years. One dropped the cpl rate by 2 cents, about 7 years ago due to "business being so bad b/c of EMR and other tech, etc."

Second company after over 12 years, still making 7 cpl, with a 99.5% QA or better quarterly, never a raise. Just discovered that this company made the Inc 5000 list of fasting growing companies last year, with a revenue of 7+ million and listed 40 employees. Guess the execs get the raises.

Only reason I stay in this business is I can work from home and will retire in 4 or 5 years.

But every MTSO I've ever worked for or dealt with is full of b.s. and become greedier with every dollar they make off MTs.

I work for two companies and the MTSO of both of them are wonderful. I'm paid well. I'm treated with respect. I get plenty of work.

Because you seem to keep having difficulties, I wonder if it's not you instead of the MTSO. Not everyone calling themselves an MT really is an asset to a company. More and more MTs are finding out they aren't as good as they think they are and then, of course, that translates to "No MTSO is worth a dime" when the reality is, the MT should be doing another gig.

I invite any person of management in any MTSO to sit at their computer for an entire shift and see what we go through day after day and see if they feel they are being paid a proper, living wage. I graduated a year and a half ago from a very good MT school. I graduated with high honors and felt ready to tackle this profession. Is it worth purchasing the BOS 3 before I start testing? I have looked online to see what others have said, and it seems like most have said they wouldn't spend the money because it's not that different from the 2nd version. If I take the CMT test the goal is to increase my income from my current earnings as a full time MT/ME. But is it worth the $$ and time required to prepare for and take the CMT test? I am confident that I would have no problem passing the test after adequate review, etc. So is it worth the effort? Just wondering if it is worth it to test up to tier 3 or not. I wouldn't mind getting more in my work pool (especially as things have been a bit slim lately with the holidays), but had heard there was no pay increase for moving up a tier, plus was worried that I'd have to spend more time in research for the first while getting used to the new work, hence slow production down.
