Medscription Solutions in Texas - anonymous

Does anyone work for or know anything about Medscription Solutions in Texas?  Saw an ad for a transcription job that pays $25 an hour; sounds too good to be true.

As I mentioned below, I bet it is $25 per hour of dictation. - nm

I applied for this job and got an email back from somebody stating somebody else would contact me. That somebody else contacted me and sent a long email, which just confused me more. Does anybody really know anything about this company (in Texas), or is it a scam like archive threads suggest? Has anybody been involved with them past getting these strange emails? Thanks for any info you have on this company. My gut tells me something is fishy, but I am looking for somebody who has experienced this situation beyond emails and can attest whether they are legit or not! You can email me privately if you prefer. Thanks!

Hmmm....now I am thinking the same. I also applied and got a very long winded email which was almost a babbling and it went on and on and made me not know what I had just read. What was the email address you got email from? I will let you know if it is the same person I got one from. Im starting to think this is a scam to get work done and maybe not pay

I sent you an email, but sounds same as what I am getting. - MTconfused

I received an email from a lady who said she was turning my application and resume to a Steve McFadden who would be my work partner. He in turn chatted with me on Yahoo IM and told me to watch for my paperwork email which I should receive between Friday and Monday. I received that email along with a IC contract to sign and return. Mr. McFadden then called me and told me I had the job, just sign the IC contract and return it. I have read over the contract and it sounds legit. Still searching further for info.

I checked with BBB and the site said - sm

When I looked them up through the BBB, they were no longer listed and the BBB felt they were no longer in business. Seems weird.

I too applied for this job - got an email from a lady who said my "work partner" Steve would be contacting me - he did and said he would chat via yahoo IM and gave me a date and time

supposedly they send you money to purchase a laptop with their software installed so it is a single user license as it is cheaper than the company purchasing a multi-user license since they are only 2 years old

they send out this money after paperwork has been returned to HR department and then you will order your computer and work starts once you receive this at $25 an hour for the first month -

don't know if this is legit or not but will keep you posted

I got the same thing exactly, however, this is so - MTconfused

[ In Reply To ..]
unconventional that I don't want to send them any "paperwork" with any of my personal information, definitely nothing with my bank account info on it. What strikes me as odd is nobody is answering on this board that they legitimately work there. The only answers we have are those with the same questions as I have. So, it's too fishy for me to move forward with it, however, I would like to hear from someone who actually goes through with it or who works there. Send me an email if you want to.

BTW-Did anyone attend the Yahoo IM "meeting", curious what that was all about.

I did go thru with the IM meeting - Lori

[ In Reply To ..]
I did attend the Yahoo meeting.... and I supposedly got the job; however, after reading the comments here I am not sure if I am going to go through with it. Supposedly they are sending me paperwork through e-mail. I am not going to give them personal information, not just yet.

This is the transcript of that meeting, what do you all think?

mediscriptionsolutions: MedScription Solutions is a new company situated in the heart of Brownsville, we are a new company with two years of unequalled excellence. Owned and managed by the team of management as you can see on the website. Our team of medical language specialists have over 30 years of experience on the clinical documentation
Gilnme1221: I have never worked with the MedScripTXT platform. Is it hard to learn? I have worked with the Dictaphone platforms, Lanier platform, and Patriot.
mediscriptionsolutions: no, it is not hard
mediscriptionsolutions: Okay, I am set to give you further information, please carefully read and ask questions if any
Gilnme1221: I am not afraid, I can learn anything.
mediscriptionsolutions: we work with our company's software which is called MedScripTXT through our web console, the tutorial is included with the pre-installed laptop which will be delivered to you after approval
mediscriptionsolutions: the software pre-installed on the laptop has time calculator according to the Director hourly payment of $25/hr but it will increase when you become full employee
mediscriptionsolutions: the amount you make per day depends on the hours you work per day
Gilnme1221: Do they ever use like a regular hard drive or is it just the laptop? I have my own keyboard, pedal and etc. and a flip switch to flip back and forth between my own computor and the company.
Gilnme1221: I think to start I will work 23 1/2 hours a day. I am that excited.
mediscriptionsolutions: the company provides 1 new laptop pre-installed with our software
Gilnme1221: I see... I can learn it. Not a problem.
mediscriptionsolutions: Note that due to the high cost of acquiring MedScriptTXT Software corporate license from our software agent, MedScription Solutions chooses to send you money via money order, cash or cashier's check to purchase single user license from same vendor, hope you are clear with this?
Gilnme1221: I understand.
mediscriptionsolutions: the reason MedScription Solutions chooses to provide the money for the software is to avoid out of pocket expenses from our employees
Gilnme1221: How many employees does the company employ?
mediscriptionsolutions: 6 in the office and 8 from home
mediscriptionsolutions: you will join the co-workers online when you receive the pre-installed software
Gilnme1221: So it is a relatively small company... I like that. So many times you get in to bigger companies and nobody seems to know you. You feel like just a number.
mediscriptionsolutions: you are correct
Gilnme1221: Makes me even more excited. I like a family type atmosphere.
mediscriptionsolutions: in order to purchase a single patent right, the payment will be made available to you, because as a new company it cost pretty much to obtain a full corporate license
mediscriptionsolutions: very nice
Gilnme1221: I understand and it makes a lot of sense.
mediscriptionsolutions: work starts as soon as you receive your pre-configured equipment from our agent, in the mean time, email your preferred name and address to the Account Payable department at "payroll@mediscriptions.com", they will issue payment in your name for the purchase and shipment of the pre-configured HP Laptop and the tutorial software
mediscriptionsolutions: they will start processing it when you email them with your information
mediscriptionsolutions: The payment will be made either by money orders, cash or cashier's check
Gilnme1221: Now do you give me a certain place to purchase the laptop and etc. All instructions will be provided right?
mediscriptionsolutions: yes
mediscriptionsolutions: the payroll department will inform you when they send you money for the purchase of the software and laptop
mediscriptionsolutions: you will buy from our recomended agent when the company send's you the money
to avoid bridging of corporate license, and the agent knows how to pre-install the software on the new Laptop in order to comply with privacy regulation
mediscriptionsolutions: take note that you will return the laptop and the tutorials anytime you don't want to work for the company
Gilnme1221: When I worked for Webmedx it was the same way. They are now merged with Nuance Transcription.
mediscriptionsolutions: You will receive your job approval email with paperwork anytime before Monday morning
mediscriptionsolutions: your paycheck arrives every two weeks via regular mail or direct deposit, but it's only from the Payroll Department
Gilnme1221: Does this mean that I got the job? Sorry if I sound naive, I am just so excited. This is an answer to my prayers!
mediscriptionsolutions: yes
mediscriptionsolutions: but work starts after receiving and signing your paperworks which you will receive anytime before Monday morning
Gilnme1221: You have made my year. Last year was so hard. My hours will be flexible, so if I have to take my husband to the doctor or something I can work around it right?
Gilnme1221: I will be looking so forward to it!
mediscriptionsolutions: yes
mediscriptionsolutions: I am your work partner, you are starting as soon as you receive the pre- installed laptop with the company's MedScriptTXT software
mediscriptionsolutions: Due to many task on hand now, please kindly email all your questions to me I will be very glad to attend to it
mediscriptionsolutions: if you have any
Gilnme1221: I am really stoked. I promise that I will do my best. With previous companies I have always maintained 98+% accuracy. Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for this opportunity.
mediscriptionsolutions: have a wonderful day ahead
mediscriptionsolutions: bye for now
mediscriptionsolutions: remember to email the Payroll department for the provission of the money you will need for the laptop and the software

I attended the IM "meeting" - MTmom

and I am also hesitant to send them any personal information and he kept saying they send either money order, CASH or cashiers check to purchase the laptop and software. Who in the HE** would send CASH through the mail anyway????? I was told that I would receive my paperwork before the end of Monday - which is tomorrow - and am still waiting....
I attended the IM meeting as well, as well as the mandatory meeting this morning. - Lori

What a joke that was! I basically told him his gig was up and he threatened me! LOL

mediscriptionsolutions: sorry I came in a little late
Gilnme1221: It's okay. I did receive the IC document yesterday and have printed it off it is ready to mail. I am still no closer to understanding what I am supposed to do now.
Gilnme1221: I was instructed by Ms. Nancy to be here promptly at 10a.
mediscriptionsolutions: every details of your duty as an IC is included in the tutorial software
Gilnme1221: So when do I get this tutorial software? After you mail me the cash... (which in the united states is highly unheard of) and I purchase the computer and etc.
Gilnme1221: When do I actually start receiving a paycheck?
Gilnme1221: Why was this meeting mandantory?
mediscriptionsolutions: we are not mailing paycheck to full employees
mediscriptionsolutions: only IC's receive payment via mail every two weeks until 4 weeks probation period is over
Gilnme1221: I understand that... but according to the paperwork I received yesterday I am an IC. So will I be compensated for the time that I sat here today?
mediscriptionsolutions: not until you receive the laptop with the pre-installed timer
mediscriptionsolutions: what is the company paying for now? have you signed the IC paperwork yet?
Gilnme1221: You know what? Lets quit wasting each other's time. Are you Steve McKenna, or Steve McFadden.... you see there are people that talk out there. You have wasted enough of my time. I don't believe there is a Ms. Nancy. I believe that this is a scam and I want no part of it. Believe me there are people out there that will know. The first part of a transcriptionists job is spelling, of which apparently you don't get. The least you could use is a spell check. I have signed the IC paperwork as a matter of fact, but the mail hasn't come yet to take it to the post. I don't believe that your website truly represents the company. Do you have references.... I do. You didn't even test me. I could be a janitor for all you know.
Gilnme1221: Every other job I have ever gone for at least wanted to know the depth of my knowledge.
mediscriptionsolutions: sorry for your misunderstanding
mediscriptionsolutions: any of the staffs here will visit your location one of these days
mediscriptionsolutions: then you will re-phrase your bad statements
Gilnme1221: The staffs? Visit my location? Why in God's name would they visit my home.
mediscriptionsolutions: not your home
mediscriptionsolutions: I mean your location
Gilnme1221: My home is my location.... location means the place where you are.
mediscriptionsolutions: in the hospitals around you location
mediscriptionsolutions: in the hospitals around your location
Gilnme1221: LOL.... Good luck with that.
mediscriptionsolutions: thank you
mediscriptionsolutions: have a nice day.

Some company on the border of Mexico who will send you $ to buy a laptop and software AND pay an unheard of amount for transcription. They say they are a new company with just a handful of employees, they need to save $ on licensing, but yet they pay $25/hour. C'mon...this has SCAM written all over it.

I applied for and got a job off a site that was for 18 dollars an hour. I had to join their IM. They told me they'd send me money to purchase hardware (computer) and software. I sent them my IC contract signed. We went round and round with no actual work ever taking place, for several weeks. They wanted me to have a Bank of America account and for me to give them that account number so they could "wire" me funds for the purchase. I told them no. That's not my bank and I am in a rural area and a Bank of America is possibly a good half hour away. So they said they'd send me a check. I received a check overnight express. When i went to the bank, the check was immediately confiscated and I found myself being interrogated by the bank manager. I was told that the check was not a real check and was advised to have nothing else to do with this "company." There are several more things I could share about this situation, but don't want to take up the space here. If anyone wants to know, you can email me. Be careful on this stuff. If they are providing the equipment, it needs to be shipped as that, equipment. Don't get into cashing checks from some place or someone to purchase their equipment. Just a little warning. Not trying to ruffle any feathers. It was just a very embarrassing situation at the bank, and then terribly disappointing, as I needed work and was really hoping that job would pan out. I honestly believe I ignored many red flags. There are still good/decent, fairly honest companies out there that will hire you AND then pay you for work. So.......... just be careful out there. Best wishes to everyone!

I was Im'ing with Steve McFadden when I copied and pasted the above to him in IM, he did not respond and my IM and computer went off line. I pulled up the history of the Im'ing and only the initial conversation appeared.

I have been corresponding with them, although it gets more ludicrous as the time wears on. I have been corresponding with a Steve McKenna. I received a telephone call today from an 800 number. When I answered the phone I understood nothing of what the man said but my name, I responded that there was no one here with that name. Immediately after hanging up the phone I received an e-mail from Mr. McKenna stating that he had tried to call and basically repeated the conversation back to me. He then signed back on to Yahoo. (I am doing this for ya'll guys as I have nothing better to do.)

good day
mediscriptionsolutions: how are you doing?
Gilnme1221: I am fine. I was replying to your e-mail. As of yet I have received no paperwork to review. I am quite wary.
mediscriptionsolutions: Mrs. Nancy is incharge, she will send it to you
Gilnme1221: Is there a real telephone number that I can call? You know maybe where Ms. Nancy might answer the phone.
Gilnme1221: I tried calling the phone number listed on the website on Friday to no avail.
mediscriptionsolutions: I will verify from her in few minutes
mediscriptionsolutions: yes
mediscriptionsolutions: she will rather call you
mediscriptionsolutions: though I was appointed to make verification calls which I did
Gilnme1221: The rest of the community feels that this is not real.
mediscriptionsolutions: why and how?
Gilnme1221: The medical transcriptionists across the country. Is it $25 per hour of dictation or $25 an hour?
mediscriptionsolutions: there are thousands of application and the company is not large enough to employ the million application
mediscriptionsolutions: $25/hour base on the duties on hand
mediscriptionsolutions: as soon as you receive the laptop and the tutorial CD you will understand the needed MT transcription easily
Gilnme1221: And that means what? Maybe I am not understanding. The duties at hand. If say I get 5 dictations in that said hour, say they are 2.5 minutes a piece and I struggle with them. 2.5 minutes x5 is only 12.5 minutes of dictation.... but it took me an entire hour to complete them. Am I paid the $25 an hour.
Gilnme1221: I only ask these questions because I have been doing this for so long. I have worked jobs by the line at .09, and I have also worked hourly.
mediscriptionsolutions: as an Independent Contractor your transcription work will be very short
until you exceed the probation time and become fully employed
Gilnme1221: I would like to look at the paperwork.
mediscriptionsolutions: ok
mediscriptionsolutions: carefully read then sign and return a copy
mediscriptionsolutions: have a great day ahead
Gilnme1221: I still am interested, but just a little vary. If your # had come across from Brownsville, Tx or something other than an 800 # I might feel better.
Gilnme1221: I will look the paperwork over carefully.
mediscriptionsolutions: there is no problem
mediscriptionsolutions: take your time

I did receive the IC Contract from Ms. Nancy. Tried calling the # and the extension on the e-mail and it rang busy.

The IC contract looks legit. I sent Ms. Nancy back an e-mail.

Ms. Sullivan, as I told Steve today I am still wary. I guess I don't understand him as well as the rest. I am very interested, but he has really been unable to convey to me exactly how I will get the equipment and etc. He called today, from an 800 number and I could understand nothing he said except my name.

In the IMs that he has had with me he has tried to explain, but again I really don't understand. I realize he said cash, check or money order and then I would procure the equipment through another company. In the United States it is common knowledge that you don't send cash through the mail.

I have tried calling the company to no avail. I really would appreciate an actual voice that I could understand on the phone.

I will be available tomorrow at 9a CST on Yahoo.

I have been an IC before, so that really is not my concern. My concern is the actual job. Is it $25 an our of actual dictation... or $25 an hour for actual production. I tried explaining this to Steve, but he doesn't seem to understand. I have been an MT for a very long time. The MT community that I subscribe to (here in the states) seem to all have the same opinion and they have all said be wary. I don't understand why there is no number that I can reach, and no actual answers to my questions. Before I provide any personal information I will have to have some answers. As I told you before.... I would really love this job as it seems completely up my alley. My husband is on SS and I am currently not employed, so I really need the money. But you can understand that I can't afford to share by information (i.e. bank account # and etc. Until I get some answers.

No reply.... we will see what tomorrow holds. I have pretty much made my decision by what you all have said. You may have saved my identity... and at least you did save my reputation. The right job will come along, I just have to have faith.

Yes I received a call from Steve McFadden, and like you, I could not understand anything he said. I will be available at 9:00 am in the morning and see what I'm told.
I am not holding my breath. - Lori

LOL. Wonder what he can say? I have signed no paperwork, so there is nothing that they can do. I wonder if they will start paying me that "$25 an hour" tomorrow?
Attended meetings - MTmom
[ In Reply To ..]
I have received my paperwork and have sent it back to them. It is the IC paperwork that covers the first month and then you are considered an employee. They don't ask for any information other than name and address and email

So now that I have sent my paperwork in they are supposed to be sending the information for purchasing the laptop and software

stay tuned.....
