Lofin transcription. Any opinions? - adkmt

I don't see much in the archives within the last year on them. I know someone who just started with them and really likes it. Set her own schedule, says the ExText platform is easy, is off QA already, and says they leave you alone to work. Sounds great, but I guess I would like to know if that's the norm.

ExText is a word-based platform and difficult to use.

Lofin's contract is as thick as a book and you probably should use a lawyer to look it over. When I signed it, I did not use a lawyer, but I wouldn't work for them again with such a contract.

They were notorious for phone calls and e-mails all days and hours, extremely annoying. Their system was often down, so you would loose reports, or they would schedule maintenance and then you would not be able to work.

I left when they lost a bunch of large accounts and there was not enough work, which had always been a problem. If you just need part-time work, it might work out. If you need a regular full-time paycheck, you'll need to sit and wait for work to trickle in, possibly at odd times of the day and possibly 7 days a week.

The pay was always accurate and on time.

As always, what doesn't work for one person, can very well work for another.

I see this company has an ad after a long time of not being around. That, of couse, would be because they lost a huge account, as well as a couple of other accounts last summer. Then they claimed there would be a new account ready by Oct. 1st. That did not materialize. Last I knew, many MTs took a hike. Many reasons not to work for this company. Check the archives. Since the advent of voice recognition and overseas outsourcing, transcription has ceased to be a profession. I will NEVER -- repeat, NEVER make the money I was making as a transcriptionist at a hospital 5 years ago, before we were replaced by VR and cheap outsourcing to India. It seems that everyone has negative things to say about how employers do not pay MTs what they're worth and how they offshore the easy stuff, but pile on the lousy ESL stuff on the transcriptionists in the States.
