Landmark followup - MTspikey

I am just curious to know if everyone was placed on other accounts or not after losing your account.  I am still waiting to be put on another account, but I am looking for more work.

Thanks

She put me on a different account, but I logged into it yesterday and it had approximately 10 reports!! That's all!! Thank goodness I have a second job or I would really be up a creek. I just ended up asking my second job for extra work.

ditto - xxx

[ In Reply To ..]
on a waiting list but thankfully I have a second job and trying to get more work with them. Whether your acct. has lots of work or not, I would never depend on just 1 company any more in this industry - too unstable - spread your time between 2 jobs. Just my opinion.

One word... - LMer

Attrition.

String people along. They will get fed up and quit, absolving company of the responsibility of paying unemployment.

That's what they are known for - me

[ In Reply To ..]
I quit about six months ago. The account I had was lost and I kept asking and asking for a new account. She FINALLY gave me one after about a month and when I logged on there were no jobs available. I really felt that was a slap in the face to even give me the account. I thought maybe they were just slow at that time, but no, I was making right at $100 bucks per pay period! I, again, kept asking and asking and sometimes getting responses that she was checking into it and sometimes no response. I finally just stopped working and she never even asked me where I went. I never received another email from her, so apparently that was their goal. I had been there 2 years.

Wow, sorry that happened to you - sm

That's kind of crappy to do to you considering you had been there 2 years.

I worked for LM for five years - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
It started out WONDERFUL, I was making crazy money. I had a clinic account that had about 10 dictators and all of a sudden after a couple of years, only one of the dictators was dictating and I had very little work. Nothing was said to me about it. When I asked I was told that the doctors must be on vacation. It was going on a month at that point, so it was hard to believe that 9 out of 10 doctors would take a month-long vacation at the same time. I never saw those dictators again and never got an explanation and I stopped asking.

After a couple of months she finally put me on another account, which the money wasn't near as good, due to report types and dictation quality, but there was more work. Still not enough for full-time though. I just got another job during all of this and the next few years I worked when I could on LM, there wasn't much to keep me busy.

Usually, I would log in when I could, no schedule (I never had one anyway) and most of the time there was no work. If I needed to take off, I didn't even ask, I just took off, since there was rarely work anyway.

I was constantly emailing K and asking her for new accounts and such and she would say there wasn't one to put me on, even though they were always hiring. So, finally, one day I took off, didn't ask or anything, as I never did, due to there was rarely work anyway and when I logged in the next day I was locked out of my account. I emailed K and she said I took off without asking. I told her I didn't know it would be an issue, because at that point I was getting less than 100 lines per day and taking off had never been an issue. She actually said "No, there is always plenty of work on that account." I was like HUH? I emailed her back and asked her how there could be plenty of work when I had 50 emails sent to her asking for more work and telling her I had no work. She never even responded back and she didn't unlock my account. I thought about emailing A about it and just stating my case, but I really wasn't making any money with them anyway and I had another job. I basically just kept working there because I liked Bayscribe, not because it was paying my bills, so I figured it wasn't worth it.

I had been there five years and never written up, never any problems with QA, never any disciplinary problems or anything.
I totally believe this poster with LM for 5 years, this is - longtimeLMMT
[ In Reply To ..]
typical for LM and much of the same has happened to me. I am still there, but only occasionally when I can work. LM runs out of work constantly, and treats MTs as described in the post. It's a shame, because I do believe there are very good MTs with LM that don't deserve it.

If you do respond to one of the numerous hiring ads, don't quit your day job!!!

I totally agree with you. This has put me in a terrible bind. I am the breadwinner in our family. I really like the people at LM, but this not knowing when there will be work again is difficult. Since you are long-time, let me ask you a question--when they lose accounts, do they typically find another one for you within a reasonable period of time? I would prefer to stay with LM, as I like Bayscribe and I like the people who own/run LM, but am afraid that will not be enough to satisfy my mortage-holder! I guess what I am asking is, am I foolish to wait it out? I am an experienced MT with excellent references and skills, and I suppose LM is not the only game in town. How to make an informed decision?
LM is not my main job, so I just take work when - LongtimeLMMT
[ In Reply To ..]
I can get it. I would NEVER do them full-time solely because it is too unstable. I can never figure out why they post hiring ads on the boards, because they can't keep their own working. In my opinion, I would get a stable "full-time" job, and if you want to stay with LM, just do it part-time when you can. That's what I do.
LongtimeLMMT - Another LM lady
[ In Reply To ..]
Thanks for the information. I am coming to the conclusion that it is too unstable as well, even though I was hired for full-time. As a single head of household, I need to be able to count on a paycheck. Not complaining, just trying to take a realistic view of things. Thanks again.
I wouldn't depend on it for my mortgage. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm sorry to say but they have no regard for their employees whatsoever. It is not odd for them to lock an MT out of an account, without even saying a word to them when the MT has had no prior issues.

Also, with the current account that was lost, LM was just hiring recently on the Job Board. I find it hard to believe that K came to work one morning and oooppss the account is gone. It was probably more of a contract not renewed, which she would have known, and could have not hired new people and rather gave those people a heads up and moved THEM to the new accounts she was hiring for.

It is always poor business practice to just lock a person out of an account, not say a word to them and then just ignore emails. I have seen many people type that happened to them on this board.
Wow... - Another LM MT
[ In Reply To ..]
That's absolutely insane. I can't believe she did that to you after you had been there for 5 years. I have only been with LM for a little under a year and I absolutely loved it for the first few months and was making great money, but then work on my account started to become unstable. K started sending out emails stating that the account was caught up and to log off for the rest of the day. After this happened several times in one week, I found another, much better company and now I just work for Landmark part-time when I have spare time for extra $. I could never count on LM for steady full-time work. It's just too unstable and unpredictable. My husband and I have a mortgage and car payment to pay. K did finally give me a second account, but same story...that one also had very little work. I think it's horrible the way they string MTs along and don't even care when they quit. Very poor business practice.

Can't answer for them but I assume...sm - OutOfWork

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm guessing some were moved to other accounts, because now I'm out of work and that doesn't happen often on my account. Ugh.

We must be on the same account - low work for a while - and this account was ALWAYS busy. nm

however, I do know that she tells A what she wants to. In the past, I was called out about "not accepting" certain types of work, i.e., straight versus speech, which supposedly was the reason I was out of work, WHICH I NEVER SAID! That's what K said.

So, if we all email A when we are out of work, maybe she will realize something isn't kosher. I really don't think she has any idea about the every day operations or even that we are out of work daily on most accounts. I email her with anything I want her to know about- but that's just me...sometimes she answers, sometimes she doesn't, but at least she hears it from me.
A sent out an email about this board once. - ExLM
[ In Reply To ..]
Not sure if K reads the board and told her or if she read it herself, but someone had come here and said they were not paid by LM. A sent out an email to everyone saying that was a disgruntled employee and they had never not paid their employees and they wanted to make sure everyone knew this.
I have never not been paid on-time by LM in over 5 years-nm - LongtimeLMMT

Me neither - I was just saying....
[ In Reply To ..]
Someone mentioned that A is not informed about things, such as not having work. I was saying A responded to something on here before, because I think maybe she reads the board, or perhaps K just filled her in. I was paid late ONCE, but it was a mix up and she got it fixed right away.

Well, in trying a couple of your suggestions, I find it did not make a substantial difference.  I found I already try listening ahead and I had been using ctrl M to jump around the report when I need to, but never works for going faster through the actual report because I can't tell what is background gibberish while the dictator is thinking and what might be the dictator.  Leading me to believe it must have a lot to do with the account.  I can never go too far ahead of the d ...

Follow Up Or Followup
Jan 09, 2013

It's always the little things that snag me up.  I know the rules on follow up as a verb  and followup as a noun and adjective, but when a doc says, "CHIEF COMPLAINT:  Follow up acne", does he mean "recheck acne" which would make follow up a verb and thus spelled follow up, or does he mean "here for a followup of acne"? and thus the followup spelling.  What is the general rule on this "shortened" statement?
