Landmark Suggestions - PLEASE!!!!!!

Although I know there are still some MTs at LM very happy with their work flow, there are MANY, MANY of us who are not. Instead of wasting time advertising on the job board, reviewing resumes, etc., why not give some of us MTs those accounts? Why not at least OFFER your current MTs more work, before hiring more? Many "real world" companies have a job board where they try to hire within first, so why not do this? Why attempt to feed other MTs when your current, dedicated MTs are STARVING? You could send a mass email and at least ASK current MTs if they would like to have more work, rather than making them feel so disrespected as not to even ask?

I worked there 5 years and other than in the very beginning, it was nowhere near fulltime, even though that is what I was hired for. I asked K the exact same thing on many occasions and was finally told "We need you on the account you are on" I told her I wasn't even getting 200 lines per day on the account I was on and she said "Well, this new account is fulltime and I can't add you to a fulltime account when you already have an account." She has off and on, throughout the years, given me extra accounts with bottom of the barrel work, but those dwindle out as well and I'm still stuck without work.

I'm at Landmark, unable to make ends meet. I check the Job Seeker's Board religiously looking for work to supplement my income. To my surprise, I see the company that I am actually trying to add in order to supplement, HIRING for more MTs?!?!?!?!?! I mean, what is wrong with this situation, why would they do that?

I totally agree. I personally have plenty of work at Landmark; however, I am only part-time there, so I can't say that it would be the same if I were to go full-time. That's why I WON'T go full-time. I work there just to supplement my full-time job. They really should send out an email to the entire company when they need help on other accounts to ask if anyone needs more work before they post ads and start hiring new people. I just don't understand the way they do things sometimes.

I wondered the same thing about companies not hiring from within. The only reason I can think of that LM doesn't seem to do this is that they don't seem to keep track of who has what type of experience. If you see an ad by LM for a specialty you have experience with, I would contact K and state that and see what happens. Good luck.

Like everyone else has said, I don't understand why they don't send out emails asking their current workers if they would like to work on this other account that has work. I haven't had steady work there since November, so it sure would have been nice if they sent me an email that they need to staff more MTs on this account (the one they're hiring for). You would think it would be easier for them to hire within. It just doesn't make sense to me why these companies do this. I've been at LM for a few years and I do like it there, minus the lack of work, but I'm about to go apply for welfare because of my tiny paycheck!

PT for 5 years and struggled almost the entire time for work. I was told what the others were told by K, "I need you on the account you are on." I too tried to go FT at first, but there was never enough work to keep me busy. I finally gave up.

Read the archives because this is typical. They overstaff and then let you sit with nothing to do, but if/when they get a new account, they hire for it. So, there are many MTs just sitting and waiting for work, while they just keep hiring. Who knows how that mind (K) thinks!

After SEVEN whole years at LM, I stopped checking for work too, because it seemed I spent more time checking than actually working. I never even received an email, a phone call, not ANYTHING about me jumping ship. I mean, you would THINK after so many years working there that they would have at LEAST dropped an "Are you okay?" email. I mean, for all they know I was in a horrific accident and nobody even cared, geeezzzz.

when there is almost no work, or are you free to do something else during your shift, like work a 2nd job?

By not having work during your shift, they are virtually dooming you with not being able to earn a living.

Are you employee or IC? That would make a huge difference as far as legal aspects are concern. You might look into the labor laws in your state re. getting partial UE. This sucks!

The juggling - for coverage

I used to own my own service and can tell you that it's not just as easy as "I want that work, give it to me." First, if you're assigned to an account, you need to stay assigned to the account that you were hired to cover so that it has coverage. Second, you can't work on both programs due to the way billing is done, the way the clients are charged, etc. Third, if you have someone trained on Account A, you don't want to pull them and put them on Account B (on which you would have to be trained) and then have to train someone to do Account A.

I'm not sure why people are not getting a look if they have the experience and skills required, have steadily shown they are available and ready and willing to work, and their quality backs up that they are a real asset. I know of several people who have asked for work and gotten it but I also know they are absolute crackerjack MTs. I don't mean to insinuate anything about the skills of any of you as I don't know you, I'm simply referring to my own experience.

Have you called and requested the work or emailed and asked what requirements you might not meet and how you might go about meeting them?

Feed some reports to those who want the work and see how they do. How hard could it be?

Takes more time to hire new than to use those already in place.

Start new-hires (and train already established) on two accounts and you will have the cross-coverage needed.

I used to FOR YEARS and years, just hit shift H and typed in cur and it spelled </CURRENT MEDICATIONS/> Now with this 6.1 upgrade, it spells out </CURRENT ALLERGIES/> and I am messing up big time with reports. I can't make money with VR and I know there has to be a way for me to work faster or something. I type so much faster than I do editing. I am looking for suggestions for a keyboard. I have the Logitech Illuminated wired keyboard presently with a plastic cover, which I really like, but the cover is pushing over the f, g and h keys. I'll start off with some office supply suggestions. Code books have really thin pages, and really teeny writing, so you will want to highlight a FEW choice items. This has to be done *modestly* without ruining them. Regular highlighters will bleed through. Too much highlighting and note-writing will ruin them.
