New MT - Headphone suggestions? - Illyria

Hi guys!

I'm looking to purchase my first set of transcription headsets and was wondering what brand or model are the most used? I'm not really sure what I would need to look for spec wise, so wanted to see what those of you who are out there are using!

I've been very curious about the Boise headsets that are on display at BestBuy, but at $300-400 a piece, I want to make sure they are worth it before dropping that amount of money, especially as there are some noise-cancelling sets out there for $50.

Any help you all could give me would be greately appreciated! :)

Hi there - I recently bought a pair of Logitech semi-noise cancelling "ears" at W-M for around $45. They are really great for the price. I also have a pair from Radio Shack that I like. Both are very comfortable and, like I said, great for the price - $45-$60. Hope this helps. I too would love to have a set of Bose, but have to pay the gas bill!!

Hi! I purchased a pair of the Bose QuietComfort noise-cancelling headphones back in September 2009. I have had various headphones over the years (never the noise-cancelling ones though), ranging from extremely cheap to a bit more pricey. I am SO happy with the Bose, and I feel it is one of the best investments I have ever made! I purchased them through their website.

Just this past week, the earcup cushion on the right side was starting to come apart, so I called and they graciously sent me a new pair of earcup cushions free of charge, even though it is supposed to be a one-year warranty and my warranty would have expired in September of last year. In other words, their customer service cannot be beat! In fact, I placed the order over the phone yesterday and they were just delivered a few minutes ago!

However, I know they are expensive. I think I paid nearly 300 dollars for them on their website (they were actually 299.95). I have honestly never tried another type of noise-cancelling headphones, so maybe there are others out there that will do the job. However, I must say I have personally never been happier!!

I love the Spectra USB headset. It allows the sound to be greatly amplified with clarity. They are not sound proof, but I haven't found better quality for the price. You want to make SURE they are the ones with the USB cord though! The other kind isn't as great. They cost around $40+ after shipping charges.

Hubby and step child will be home for the next 9 days making my work environment extremely noising and crazy. I need to get new headphones and wondered what everyone recommended. I can't stand the kind that sit in the ear. Every pair I have every tried makes my ear hurt after about 2 to 3 hours and as I am on a 12-hour schedule I prefer over the ear ones if any uses them. I used to FOR YEARS and years, just hit shift H and typed in cur and it spelled </CURRENT MEDICATIONS/> Now with this 6.1 upgrade, it spells out </CURRENT ALLERGIES/> and I am messing up big time with reports.
