Got an almost immediate phone call. Tech set up. Paperwork sent. Start official work on Monday.
I was hired today. The job board says over 1400 people looked. sm - FastFingers

I know that the ad was on more than just MTSTARS because I saw it somewhere else first. I was happy that they still had the shift I was looking for. I have high hopes as a few of my ex-co-workers went to KS and are happy.
I would contact them if you have not heard from them. Squeaky wheel and all that. Good luck!
Hired 5/5 at Keystrokes - Laree

FastFingers, I have seen you on this board before, and I am also considering going with Keystrokes (was offered a position there). Do you mind telling me what company you used to work for? I agree with you -- as my silly husband says, "Squeaky wheel gets the worm!" Also, aren't you concerned about their upcoming change in health insurance?
Transcend. They bought the company I worked for and it has been downhill ever since. sm - FastFingers

I am not concerned about the health insurance because I am under my husband's policy. If it were less, I would take it, but it's too expensive. It's bad enough we pay $1400 a month through his for our family, but our daughter has asthma, and we have to have coverage.
That's funny. My account has been on OT for over 2 months. sm - Long-time KSMT

I have heard from other KS MT's that they are on OT too and being begged to work extra. This spans at least 15 accounts that I know of from radiology to orthopedics to hospital to ER.
Maybe the account you're on has not work available, but to say that they have no work is wrong. Have you talked to anyone about this?
Apparently this doctor thinks that the new year coming up is 2012. He has dictated in two separate reports that these patients have procedures scheduled for January 2012 and they are in for their preoperative evaluation now. Either that or these patients are getting their preoperative evaluation more than a year in advance. I wish doctors/dictators could be reprimaned for their mistakes. ...
Dear all,
I'm pleased to announce that the 2011 MT Survey is now live. If you remember the 2007 MT Survey, this is a continuation of that (with some changes). In the previous survey, we received 3800 responses, which culminated in the report MTs on the Radar (you can find it at http://ehealthrecords.wordpress.com/publications/). We are hoping for another successful survey. So if you are interested in completing the survey, you can go to http://www.medicaltranscriptio ...
I have misplaced my 2011 payroll schedule. Can somebody tell me if our December pay period ended on 12/28/2010? For some reason, that sticks in my mind. Thanks :) ...
It's very simple and I am very serious:
1. If you are unhappy with how the MT career is changing, unhappy with the new pay (it won't go back up, folks, only down further), unhappy with changes in technolog, etc.: Do something THIS YEAR to get out of MT work completely. Don't feel you can venture too far from it? Do something like coding/billing. Want to stay in the medical world? How about LPN or RN? Dental Hygienist? HR speci ...
Poor Mr. Davenport only earned a little over 3 million. So sad.
I guess my giving up eating was worth it.

I have just used the Saunders Pharm Books for years and not the CD. I'd love some feedback if you have used the CD and how you like it or even what is your preference regarding drug books. Thanks! ...

In this document, they do point out there are valid reasons for blanks. So... if MQ is going to adopt this, we should no longer be punished for valid blanks. They also include standards for dictators and recognize that lack of dictator compliance with these standards is a cause for blanks. Plus, IMO, ...
I was trained as a Medical Transcriptionist at a two-year college from 1990 to 1992. I worked at a hospital for a couple of years doing radiology, non-invasive cardiology, and neurology transcription, then I got married and moved. Soon thereafter, I started work at a mental health clinic as a Medical Transcriptionist with 12 other transcriptionists. This was in late 1993 and I am still there as of right now. The 12 transcriptionists have either left or been laid off over ...
New job figures out today: Health care continued to add jobs in December (+23,000); employment in hospitals increased by 10,000. Over the year, health care employment has risen by 315,000.
Any increase in health care employment is good for MTs. ...
make a living being an MT? In addition to how low our pay has gotten, and the myriad other problems that we all deal with, if you can't focus, do you think that is cutting into your finances as well?
I've always had a suspicion that I have ADD. Was a totally hyper kid. Daydreamer in school. High IQ (148), labelled as "gifted" in 1st Grade, yet with each passing year did less and less well in school. Looked out the window and zoned out more than I paid att ...
M*Modal will call the shots. No doubt they'll start jacking up prices to the clients then. That's the way it usually works.
Should only take a few more years.
Save a bit now, spend a lot more down the road. Lol. Shortsighted fools. ...
I am curious what the thoughts are about this. Will is be mandatory in a few years that all doctors offices go to EMR? Will this be the end of the medical transcriptionist or is there something we can do now to prepare for the change and still be in this field? ...
I am training someone and I am now reminded how far I have come, how much I have learned, and the things I take for granted and assume others know. Basic things, just proper English, not even taking into consideration the medical terminology. Knowing whether a sentence makes sense or not. We really should be paid better. But it is nice to feel smart sometimes....and you know anyone who can do this job really does have to be pretty darn intelligent. Fello ...
If there are any MT's in the Shreveport/Bossier City, Louisiana area on this board, there are a few local employment agencies, in particular Jean Simpson and Career Adventures that are looking for transcriptionists for positions at physician's offices. I recently got an in-house position and just want to pass along the news to anyone in this area that may be looking for a position. ...
Go to this website. Transcriptionists will no longer be needed in the future for transcribing or editing. One of my friends told me the hospital she retired from is going to this system and their transcription department will eventually no longer exist.

I am now down to 3 companies (from 4) trying to make a living at this, wondering what I should do next. I'd like to go get my coding diploma and move on from there as I cannot take this anymore. Four jobs and between all of them I got $700 last week and am still waiting for checks to arrive. I asked one of them why it wasn't DD and they said they would cut and mail the check. Lord knows when the other one will arrive. I don't know, don't YOU ...
How can they possibly get paid less than us? We get paid peanuts and if it is so lucrative for this company to send stuff offshore just wondering what they pay the indian transcriptionists? ...
I work in the path department and when a malignant case comes up that requires a CAP, I defer to the CAP summary. The docs dictate "lymphovascular . . ." but the CAP summaries will have "lymph-vascular . . ." The problem is today I was checking the CAP protocol for the Lung CA and the word was used both ways. In the actual protocol itself, there was the hyphenated version as a header, i.e., but then in the explanatory notes at the end of the protocol there' ...
Ok, I am just venting some frustration here

I would like to get some information from the UPMC transcriptionists that lost their jobs at UPMC when their jobs were outsourced to Nuance. Please respond via email. I would greatly appreciate your help! Thanks! ...
Hello! Just wondering if anyone has heard of "Epic" a new EMR. I work for a doctor's office and was told no need anymore for transcription. Checking to see if anyone is in the same boat I am or heard of this new EMR.
Thanks ...
able to do any type of transcription. Not sure if that is tier 3 or any transcriptionist, but AHDI is not a friend of the MT. AHDI and MQ are certainly in bed together and against the MT. ...
I came across an ad recently catering to unemployed new registered nurses who need jobs badly. I am understanding that the market for RNs and healthcare in general is saturated and then some; however, this article specifically stated "Nurse Medical Transcriptionists." I saw it on All Nurses forum; I don't remember the company . . . BUT a lot of nurses were responding with interest because they can't get jobs. The only thing that was running through my mind was "you have no idea people ...
