Thank you for keeping me informed of the travels and adventures of Transcend. I am delighted that I have worked so diligently this year (when there has been enough work for me) to enable you to afford to take this coast-to-coast trip. I am sure you economized as much as you could by staying at low cost motels/hotels, eating at very inexpensive restaurants, and using economy/red-eye flights and that you impressed your future investors by displaying your very thrifty side by having your meetings in the mid mornings or afternoons and only serving ice water and coffee.
I applaud you on your successful efforts to operating a wonderful company on a shoestring budget by ensuring that your reimbursements to your employees for being so loyal and hard working have been so low that many of us have lost our benefits. I am sure that your bed partners in India appreciate that you are so thrifty with the American citizens who, unfortunately, have to use US medical facilities for care and that helps keep your payments for services rendered from the hospital at an all time high.
I am sure that along your way you managed to squeeze in an hour to have a little get together for all those employees who reside in the cities in which you visited and I am sure they really did appreciate it. I am sorry, but I must have been standing in line at the local food bank when you called my home and I am sure I missed that call. After all, you did give an all day party at a major theme park in Georgia to all the employees and their families who live in that area last summer and someone told me that you are hosting a Christmas party in Brooksville for all the employees and family that live in that area. I am sure that you will hand out Christmas cards at that party so you do not have to pay postage to mail them since that is keeping in line with your cost control program. I know you have not mailed cards out in the last 2 years and I am sure that the 75 cents for a card and postage per year has also saved a lot of money.
Please accept my wishes to you and your families for the same thrifty holiday season and hardships that the rest of us are experiencing.

[ In Reply To ..]I was thinking the same thing myself reading that email today. But I have to correct you in that Transcend did send a card and a $25 Walmart gift card last year. Since it is already the 18th I'm thinking we aren't getting that this year. Just another cost cutting measure I guess.

There was NO gift card, at least I didn't get one. I got a pen. Meanwhile they can go around the country and get their $30,000 raises. Yeah, they really appreciate us. A pen?? Get real. They have so disappointed me. I never heard about the party in GA and in Brooksville, but then I'm not surprised. Too bad we have no one on our side. Even the old AAMT or AHDI or whatever they want to call it, is such a joke. I no longer am a member. They do NOTHING for us and in fact are the ones that helped put is in this position. Squarely in the pocket of the big companies. What a shame. Used to be a good job now I make less than I did 20+ years ago...

[ In Reply To ..]Well, we did not get so much as a card from MDI last year. Guess they were too busy planning their big merger to acknowledge us little folks. But interestingly enough, the small mom and pop that I took on as a side job sent each MT chocolates, and I can tell you they are not the kind of people who will ever do a 16M merger with anyone. For all of the big whoop about MDI, we need to face it, we are all just machines to them.

I was hired for full time and promised all the work I wanted. That quickly proved to be wrong so I went to part time. I cant even get that now. I have talked and talked and begged for work, requested to be moved to another team..maybe the one that was hiring and nothing. I am frustrated beyond believe and tired of it. I wish they would lay me off at this point. It is becoming more of a headache to look for work and worry about not having it than actually just doing my work and that is sad. I wonder on days if I have no work if I called unemployment could I file for those days. I know some companies did that where you worked on days you had and claimed umemployment on days you didnt. I am just at a loss.

I have my job, I will continue to do it to the best of my ability, but I really cannot say that I will ever join a bandwagon and say that Transcend is wonderful or fair. I think they have their pets and then there are the rest of us that just plug along and stay hidden in the woodwork, do the work no one else wants to do, watch the good jobs go flying off the system, probably to the cherrypicking team leads, and no one cares whether we even exist unless the bad dictators' reports are not transcribed.

Just got the email today that effective 10/01/2010, my MTSO (whom I will not name) will no longer be paying holiday pay (aka 1.5 cpl) for any holidays anymore b/c of "the economy." R U *** kidding me? First of all, I thought that the recession was officially over in 2009, but I could be mistaken. Secondly, I know holiday pay and OT and all that is a "perk" and not required by law to pay us, but yet they expect us MTs, er me, to work all major holidays for the same crappy cpl as always ...

If you run out of work for over 15 minutes, you're supposed to fill out a ticket & take the rest of the day off, without even checking to see if work comes in later? Won't they be mad that you didn't check back since it's a holiday? But then on the other hand, if they've made you clock out & take PTO instead, then I guess you couldn't check back even if you wanted to...?
