I noticed a few of us are scheduled to start around the same time, December 19, 20, and 21-ish. For those of you who are supposed to start around that time, have any of you had your software installed yet? I'm supposed to start on the 20th and have already sent in all my new-hire paperwork but I haven't heard from anyone since then. I'm just curious if it's still too early to have it installed or if I'm the only one. In case it makes a difference, I'll be working on the Encore platform.

I'll be on BeyondTxt, with training on the 20th. IT called me 2 weeks ago and set up a time to install the software. Mine will be done on the 13th. I'm concerned because I haven't received my foot pedal yet and I've also tried to find out how to send in my proof of citizenship for the E-9 form and keep getting voice mail.

I wasn't asked to send in proof of citizenship except on the online form, where you check the little box confirming that you are a US citizen and are allowed to work in this country. I went back in to find out where to send my information too and there's nothing about it in the new hire packet.

Wow, since I'm supposed to start in just over a week I'd better call my recruiter to find out when the install will be done. So far, communication hasn't been the best and I've had to initiate communication every time.

There have been some issues with Encore, but I think that has been worked out now. I've been with Transcend for over a month now and Encore is just now working right. I've been on BeyondTXT until Encore was ready to go. I'm sure they will get to you soon, but they have been working with the installations and problems for those of us already hired. Hang in there! I know they have lots of large accounts now so they will need you !

That's really good to know! I'm going to hang tight and give it a bit longer then but if I don't hear anything in about a week or so I'll just drop a quick line to my recruiter just in case. Thanks so much for your reply, that helps a lot!

When I started at Transcend my programs were installed 4 days before I started training..I had my own footpedal so didn't have to worry about that..the E-9 I think I finally got an email about a month later asking for my proof of citizenship..I just scanned my stuff and sent it through the email they sent me..Don't know if this helps or not but good luck!

I sure hope you guys starting earlier will post how everything goes! I would love to kind of know what to expect. I will be on BeyondTXT. I am very glad to be free of MQ, although I was only there for a few months after the eTrans buy out, I am tired of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I can't get away from MQ a day too soon. I feel like I'm busting out of prison - after being there for over a decade I have been through IT ALL with that company but when I got to the brink of homelessness and applying for Food Stamps, my Christmas present to myself was to finally get the hell out.

It doesn't sound like I should be worried quite yet since there are a few of us who haven't been installed yet. If I don't hear anything by the end of next week I'll drop my recruiter a note just in case. Good luck to all of us - it's kind of scary and exciting at the same time! :)

Transcend - no word expanders - MountainMT

I asked my recruiter about word expanders and what type of computer to buy. She sent me an e-mail from IT stating that it is up to each MLS to provide her own word expander. Unfortunately I bought a new computer with Windows 7 and I can't find an autocorrect feature on it. I've never worked for a company or hospital that didn't provide some type of shorthand. I have another computer with a lot of miles on it which is XP, which I might end up using for work. I'm hoping everything falls into place okay.

It's a little embarrassing to say but, having been with Medquist for so many years working on DocQScribe with its own word expander feature I just assumed that every company provided software with its own word expansion. When I was recently interviewed by another company, I was asked which word expansion program I used. I was at a loss â�¦ I honestly didn't know what they were talking about. They encouraged me to use Shorthand but I know there are other good ones out there. Shorthand can be used in ANY application you type in, either work or personal use, even writing emails. For me, it's super simple to use and very user-friendly. I just click on my little Shorthand icon before I start working with my new company and let it do the rest. I'm sure Shorthand can be used with the Transcend platform too if you really don't want to use your old computer!

It would be very, very unusual for a company to provide reference materials for its employees. 99.9% of companies expect their workers to provide their own.

but recruiter told me we could run Stedman's spellchecker also if we would prefer it. Again, this is for Beyondtxt, not sure about the other platforms.

Starting on 21st--Schedules? - New2

I'm starting training on the 21st (no software yet either) and am just wondering what everyone else has a for a schedule. I was given a set schedule but the recruiter mentioned a 12-hour window during the interview which was not stated on my acceptance email. Would love to hear what everyone else has for a schedule/expectation.

I remember that coming up during my call too but in reference to the clinic work she had available - but I opted for acute care for an account in Oregon for 8-4 Sun-Thurs. I'm glad to know there are so many of us who haven't had the software installed yet. Do you know if you will be working on Encore, or BeyondTXT?

I'm starting to wonder about the possibility of overhiring but I'm going for it anyway. It can't be any worse than the situation I just came out of. Good luck to you too! We should all post back after our first week for an update on how it's going so far. :)

I'm currently per-diem for a company that requires per-diems to work 2 holidays a year but does not include us in bonuses or Christmas gift cards given to other employees because I am "only per-diem". Excuse me? I am still making money for your company just like everyone else and without any benefits that you pay out to everyone else!!! I just want to be with a company where I can make a living and not be considered a 2nd class citizen. I will definitely post back after my 1st week and hope you do the same!

I sure wish I had a day shift! My offer letter states my shift is 2p-2am, Sun-Thurs and includes a shift differential. It is for acute care. I believe I can work any 8 hours during that 12 hour period, but I'll know more after next week.

If you don't like those panels on the side of your text screen showing, you can drag the right and left margins of text screen to widen the text screen. You can also drag the upper and lower margins. You can enlarge the size of the font and change the style of the font (which only will change it on your end, not the client's end). tail spin. Their stats are good on VR and they actually called off OT on Sat this week because of less work. Can't say I like VR yet, but seems the pools are getting better. Maybe the worst is past and we are going to go back up again. Lots of work, so can't complain.
