Focus testing- Did anyone else think it too way too long - Job Seeker

I found the testing extremely long and difficult. It was not difficult because of the terminology etc. It was one that you could not use a foot pedal and all you could do was use the keyboard to rewind, pause, and play. There were four reports and one was almost 10 minutes long, which is way longer when you have no foot pedal to use. I felt extremely stressed and it took me hours. I am sure I did not pass. After the third one that was long, I just gave up. I tried to get my foot pedal to work but it did not with the instructions that had for setup so I just used the keyboard...nightmare.. Anyone felt it time-consuming and discouraging? I really needed the job but I guess that was that. At least I tried.

There's no sense in it taking hours and hours to test for each company. In the old days, you transcribed a report or two, and that was about it. They can tell from your resume, your references, and a couple of reports if you know what you're doing. Now, there's about a 4-part multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank then transcribing for a couple of hours...

It seems like since most of them are through mttest anyway that they could let you register and take the test once & then each company you apply to have access to it.

I could have been working. I am so frustrated. I have tested, offered a job, then they go missing in action, or you just never heard back. I took four tests last week through mttest.com. I agree with you. Why can't we just do it once and have ONE score for all employers to see. From now on, I am just refusing to do them through mttest because you cannot use a foot pedal and the transcription portion is ridiculous without it. I wonder how many people do just give up when they have to go through that nightmare for the 18th time in a week. It's a full-time job to test nowadays. I remember when Focus hired based on a phone interview LOL

Are you able to use any footpedal of any kind? That seems rediculous and way too time consuming, but if you don't take the test, then they will not even consider you for employment. Seems a stupid way of doing recruitment.

mttest and used my own pedal and voice program to transcribe during that part of the test.

received a raise in God only knows how long? It's nice for you, but they have employees who have been with them for years slaving away with no reward.

What were the bonus requirement? A certain shift, number of hours? - nice bonus

I thought they had a bonus of 500.00 listed on their last employment ad, how do you qualify for the 1500.00 bonus?

If you currently work FT with Focus could you share approximately or average of your gross montly income from Focus is. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to apply. I currently work as an IC and average $2000-2400 a month, which is fine but I have no benefits. I have been working at Focus now for 2 weeks. I think everyone is nice. All my QAs have seemed fair except today one QA (and only this one) counts off for blanks. Well the team lead said you are not penalized for blanks when I hired on. She said you won't be dinged for blanks. I want to apply because they said there are new accounts etc. Then, I checked the archives and as early as December, people were claiming to running out of work every day because a lot of the work goes to India. They also were told that there would be new accounts but somehow they vanished and they ended up with no work. I received an e-mail today from a recruiter at Focus Infomatics. I applied there last year and didn't meet their experience criteria but the e-mail asked me to send them an updated resume to see if I do now (and I do). I am soo fed up with this company. I am an experienced MT and have been on their "crappy" training rate for three months. I get "dinged" in lab values if I add commas and the platelet count is 348,000 have to change everything to semicolons then if patelet count is just 38 commas are fine. I have done QA and NEVER dinged anyone for stuff like this. Of course, this wonderful company as well wants VERBATIM -- heaven forbid you add "a or the" to have something ma ...
