I had a phone interview with Encompass almost 2 weeks ago. I have emailed them a few times wondering if and when someone will be contacting me with no response. Makes me wonder if I want employment with them if they cannot respond in a timely manner when they say they will contact someone. Anyone with a similar experience?

Yes! They are known for that. Do a search on them.

I also did the phone interveiw, they told me they wanted to hire me, said they would send the schedule form and computer spec. sheet and I never got it... I kept calling, e-mailing, no response.

Well, about 2 months after that, I send 1 last e-mail and stated the situation that I had already tested, went through the phone interveiw and told I was hired, but never received my paperwork after multiple e-mails and calls. The woman said "Well, you get the award for be the most persistent!" She said she would resend them, and almost 2 years later... I am still waiting for them.

After I was told that I was hired, I emailed the recruiter every morning and evening until the paperwork was sent and I was scheduled for "orientation."

They seemed very much like a high-school clique, especially among the managers. The QA dept was inept, but ruled the roost. They were very quick to defend bad dictators, or those that would fall asleep during dictation, chew, whistle, yell and curse, etc. The pay was average, but I did not have to fight for it. When payroll made an error (which were quite a few) they did not fail to correct the error on the next paycheck. The owner did not promote communication among the MTs, pretty much did what she could to prevent it. There was a lot of mandatory overtime and mandatory holiday work, especially when I was the new kid on the block. When I was there, we were required to be on the job whether work was available or not, though flexing was encouraged. There was a lot of micromanaging via IM. A QA rating of 99% was only considered acceptable, as 99.5% was expected. Manager would approve a day off, and then call to ask why I was not working. After a year of feeling like a piece of the equipment, I quit.

I say, if you have to beg to be hired, or to begin once you have been told that YOU ARE HIRED, you're probably better off moving on and not looking back. I wish I had followed that same advice.

As to whether it's worth it to work for them, I can't say. I got an offer, which I turned down. It wasn't terrible-pretty middle of the road for transcription companies. Pay is average. They are moving more toward VR.

The way I got this is through sheer persistence. They will not (as you have found out) call or email you--you have to do all the work. If you are willing to do it, you will eventually get an offer. I ended up taking another job. I'm not joking though-think of every time in the past when you have applied for a job and a recruiter has contacted you-now flip that on its head; YOU will have to be the one to do it. I haven't heard anything bad about the company once you get in though.

I tested for them over a month ago and never heard anything back. I followed up via emails and still no response. At least you got as far as a telephone interview. I have read on this board YOU have to do all of the following up and contacting.

I tested with both and know I did well (lots of experience with this stuff) but have heard nothing back from Probity and got a letter of interest from Encompass, which I responded to, then NADA. Has anyone actually been able to move forward recently with getting a job at either place?! Something new that's being instituted since our recent acquisition by Nuance, so maybe Focus is using it already? Looks like a way to get even pickier about QA, in my opinion, which our incentives are based upon. I've been really happy about the way Encompass has done QA up until this time.
