DSG. Statutory employees - Looking

I'm considering applying with DSG for a statutory positon. Does anyone know what they're like to work for? I'm wondering about rate of pay, availability of work, percentage of ESL, etc. Thanks.

If you're doing acute care, you can expect plenty of ESLs. Hard to give a percentage, but always expect the worst. Has nothing to do with what company you're working for, it's just the way it is in this business.

Work flow is iffy there, but the more you can do in terms of specialties and hospital dictation, the better off you'll be, and expect to at some point be pooled for VR. VR is horrible everywhere, but it increases your chance that at least you'll get work. Sure, it takes longer to edit a VR report (in most cases) than it does to type it, but it's a problem in the whole industry, not just one company.

It's all going down the tubes, but I have worked with DSG for almost a year, and it certainly beats "that other place" I worked for for 10 years.

Actually I find that the percentage of ESL's is much higher at DSG than anywhere else I have worked. And they are the worst of the worst ESL's, that is just my opinions, or maybe it is because DSG re-records and the sound quality is often terrible.

Yes, when I said "not too bad" I meant it's not too bad of a place to work, compared with that one other place I worked. Also, my experience with the supervisors has been a very positive. They actually answer your e-mails in a timely fashion and I feel I'm treated fairly.

HOWEVER, you can run but you can't hide from that ASR no matter where you go. It would appear that the places that use it don't much discriminate who dictates on it. The dictators who back up a lot are a disaster on ASR and shouldn't be on there, even if they're the clearest-voiced dictator on the planet.

I meant to address the sound quality issue. Gosh, I was wondering what that sound mess was on some of the reports. I suspected it was re-record, but wasn't sure.

Not trying to discourage anyone from working at DSG. I suppose if you're going to choose to work in this industry, DSG is better than the others I've heard about, one of which I worked for for several years.

I was just curious about what employees thought of Nuance on Glassdoor. You read several US employee opinions and they reflect the morale listed on MTStars. Scroll further down and read the opinions of the transcriptionists from India. What a difference. They are highly satisfied with their jobs and most have been working with Nuance for 6 to 7 years. I have been working as an IC for a while, but used to work as a SE where some taxes were taken out of my check and matched. The self-employment taxes are killing me! I keep trying to find something definitive that spells out the differences between the two, but it all seems so vague or, at least, different companies seem to treat each differently. Specifically, since my company recently converted everyone over to statutory status, can they require the employees to set and maintain a strict schedule as they had when they were full-time regular employees, or should/do the statutory employees have more leeway in that regard, more along the lines of an IC? ...

I was one of the people originally with MDI who was sold to Transcend who was sold to Nuance. With MDI, we were statutory employees. When sold to Transcend, we were told repeatedly and often that statutory employee would no longer exist, that we were straight employees. Same with Nuance. I'm trying to figure out what an appropriate line rate request equivalent would be since I would be responsible for withholding income taxes. As I am getting no work during the day shift anymore, I have the chance to go third shift Sun-Thursday (11-7), either that or find a new job (yeh right), or do ASR (done it at this company, no thanks to returning there). I have never worked that one before. How/when do you sleep? Any other pros/cons about this shift? Thaniks your your advice. ...
