Can anyone recommend a decent MTSO to work for as an employee and a Monday through Friday schedule?

Nowadays, neither of those things exist anymore. - Especially a "decent" MTSO. nm

Ah, the coveted "norm" schedule! - Like winning the lottery!

I had to put in over 10 years of working nights, weekends, and holidays in order to finally score a day shift when an opening became available within my company, and I was constantly contacting them to remind them I was interested in changing my schedule. I think that, had I not been a pest about it, no one would have ever let me know or considered me.

No one gives up that kind of schedule unless they retire or quit. Good luck though! You never know!

I work in-house and we had quite a few people working a M-F shift. I also have a new department manager who at her one year mark at the end of last year changed everyone's schedule to better suit the needs of the department. There were maybe 5 M-F shifts left in a 35 person department. Everyone else went second shift either Sun through Thur or Tues through Saturday with 4 of us working third shift.

The only people who got a M-F shift were the ones who had been employed the longest and I am talking women who have worked for this hospital for 25 plus years.

A new shift opened up that was Thursday through Monday, so working BOTH days of the weekend but it was 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and it was going to go to whoever had the most seniority. People JUMPED at it to get off of nights.

So, you can keep on looking, but the chances of getting a M-F schedule as a new hire are slim to nonexistent. If you are doing clinic work, there's nothing Monday morning but you've got all of Friday's work left over on Saturday. If you're doing acute care, that's 24/7 and there's always a need for weekend coverage.

Anymore, work load is 2nd and 3rd shift - AND weekends

Are you working for a MTSO in your home or are you working outside the home HappyMT? If it is for a company in your home can you tell me which company it is?

work?? Maybe that would explain the low work volume during the week. I don't understand why this company does not have rotating weekends. Back when I worked for Spheris, we rotated and worked a weekend once a month. That seemed to work great. Or - instead of forcing schedule changes, ask for volunteers or even hire part-time work just for weekends. ...

Just wondering if any Nuance MT's work M-Th and have Friday, Sat and Sun off? I am trying to decide whether to work as an MTSO employee or an IC. If I choose IC, what percentage of self-employment, FICA, Social Security, and Medicare taxes will I be paying on (on the average) on my gross monthly income? I was doing pretty good with my line count for the week, hoping to make a decent bonus tier for this last week before the new pay plan rolls out. I have always gotten paid time-and-a-half for holiday pay on the Fourth of July, which is one of Medquist's holidays (or so it is listed as and always has been), and was told by CCM we would be paid time-and-a-half for that Monday's work done since even though it wasn't the fourth, it is when it is nationally celebrated. I have an interview on Monday to work at a local veterinary clinic doing transcribing full time in house for animal patients. No joke, they have 17 doctors on staff and supposedly a ton of work.
