Any Amphion employees out there that can recommend or discourage working there? - undecided

Posted: Mar 19, 2012

I have been offered a position but have other offers elsewhere too.  They seem the nicest and least flaky of my offers so far.  I am scared though.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.   TIA :)

I worked for them over a year ago (sm) - ExAmphionMT

I took a part-time position there a year or so ago. As I recall, they QA based on BOS2 (may be BOS3 now), and the QA staff I dealt with were very nice, professional, and helpful...never rude or condescending or insulting at all.

The communication was outstanding and some of it on a personal level (the TLs plans for the weekend, weather updates for their area...like typical office chit-chat, which some may not enjoy but I certainly did; it made it more "human" and personalized).

Pay was on time, every time.

Had there been sufficient work during my shift, I don't think I ever would have left. Unfortunately, out of a four-hour shift, I probably got two hours of editing which didn't add up to much.

If the work is there, I'd definitely say give them a shot. If you like the feeling of really being on a "team" and that personalized touch (not to mention no second-guessing what QA wants, as it's pretty much 100% BOS), I think they're definitely worth checking out.

Whichever way you go, good luck to you!

Ditto to the above - anon

I second everything above. I kick back and forth about getting out of MT altogether on a pretty much daily basis, and one of my reasons for staying is the people I work with. Truly couldn't ask for a nicer, more professional group. If the work is there, it's a great place to work.

My experience with Amphion has been nothing but positive. It is truly one of the best career moves I have ever made. They absolutely do not offshore work, and the TLs and proofers and higher ups actually CARE about the MTs. When work is low, they are up front about it, but in the year I have been here, that has only happened around the typical times when I was glad for a break anyway. They do not offer overtime often, but they always call for extra hours if you are not already working 40, and during the summer, they typically do offer overtime.

I have had some health situations come up and they have been more than accommodating in working with me on that. When I had trouble getting back into the swing after a serious illness, they did everything they could to help me get back on track, and I am so glad to be here! If I were you, I would jump on it. Right now we have PLENTY of work all around, and you aren't going to find a better environment out there, at least not with Nuance and Medquist buying everyone up.

Question For Amphion Employees
Aug 14, 2014

Do you find it difficult to make the line count for full time?  I am currently PT and thinking I want to go FT, but I really don't think I could not make the line requirement.  I have been working at Amphion for a while now, and I am torn between the pros and cons and is it worth the risk to try working for a different company. The good thing is there is plenty of work, and the people I communicate with are very nice.  But I have about 6 accounts, and I just can't ...

OMG How Funny - Read Glassdoor Opinion Of Employees, US Versus Indian Employees!
Aug 05, 2013

I was just curious about what employees thought of Nuance on Glassdoor.  You read several US employee opinions and they reflect the morale listed on MTStars.  Scroll further down and read the opinions of the transcriptionists from India.  What a difference.  They are highly satisfied with their jobs and most have been working with Nuance for 6 to 7 years.  The US transcriptionists are very sad!!  What a difference..... ...

Why I Would NOT Recommend ATSI
Feb 19, 2010

Hello all! I am new to this forum and would just like to share my thoughts with you as I have read through some of your postings about different MT companies out there, like "Should I work here?" So, as nicely as I can say it, in a matter of my opinion:  My Top Ten Reasons why I would NOT recommend ATSI: 1. The pay. Straight CPL no matter if it's days, nights, weekends, holidays. 2. No raises, incentives, or bonuses. 3. NOT employee status...EVER...even after 90 days, you will ...
