Amphion requires "verifiable download time"?? - EditScreech

On the first page of the Amphion job application, they're saying that you have to have a verifiable download time of 768 kbps or thereabouts, and they have a link so you can test this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this have to do with the volume load at any given time? Are they serious, owned by a major ISP, or what? My speed for Bellsouth lowest speed DSL was only a third that speed, but on a weekend...

Some DSL accounts, especially those in rural areas, run at the lowest possible speed to qualify as "high-speed internet," and some of Amphion's applications require a faster connection than that. They're doing you a favor by notifying you of that requirement before you go through the tedious process of setting everything up and then discover that you can't perform the job.

That is not a very fast speed, especially on the download side. I'm sure Amphion is not owned by an ISP. They want to make sure you can receive their voice files and get your work done and I doubt that you want to have to sit and wait for jobs to download. I don't know how DSL works but I have cable internet. Weekends or time of day have no impact on download speed, it's super-fast 24/7 and surprisingly about the same price as DSL in my area.

Ok here is my question. Does anyone have Windows 7 Professional on their computer and use it for a platform that requires Windows XP? Found out the hard way just this week that download speed is now 2 mbp or greater, with fluency shutting down on uploads. When did this happen? I was treated as if it is my ISP that is below-par on speed, but had upped to a 1.5 mbp plan just for "Q" a year ago.
