keep a small PT job to be able to live on instead of one job with constantly fluctuating pay because of lack of work and the ever constant risk of the job disappearing entirely without warning and ending up homeless. I came way too close to that a few times and is why I decided to do early retirement so I had money every month to at least pay for a motel if it came to that.
