I worked as an MT from age 21 to age 58 when the facility where I worked converted to Epic. I worked in QA for a couple of years and trained in ICD-9 just before the transition but coding wasn't a viable option at my age. I worked in medical records until I retired last year at 67. I'm not bitter about transcription except that I was sorry to see it end. I've been on some job interviews recently and haven't done well because they were scripted and they read a bunch of canned questions from a list. I'd like to work part-time in a paid position but currently volunteer at a library.
