At least when you are 62, you will be collecting most of it. If you waited for full retirement, you would miss out on those early years. In the case of MT, collecting early is a necessity for some as most companies over hire and you end up with NJA and minimal paychecks.
Sticking it out until full retirement would not bump up your earnings record much due to the fact that you are not making much money anyway. You may make a little more but not enough to wait IMHO.
