I have applied to a hospital in the small town I live, who also got rid of their MTs to MedQuist years ago. Their applications request work references. When you have worked over 30+ years as an MT and the last 24 at home as a subcontractor and the previous companies you worked for were bought out and no longer exist, you really have no references. Our little hospital won't look at an application without references. Then what?? I have seen other job postings on MTstars and MTJobs before it went away where the apps request references. Totally at a loss. It is like I haven't worked in over 20 years, as I have no supervisors to contact.
