It is - unfortunate

What is really sad is that MTs are not being phased out because we're no longer needed - we're being phased out because we represent an expense the industry isn't willing to pay for anymore. From what I see happening to healthcare documentation processed through other means, the effort is failing. Only a small percentage may find an acceptable way, but then why hasn't that been successful in taking over medical transcription as a whole already? If they're hanging onto some US MTs because of all the poor, very difficult dictation that seems to be the new norm now for this type of work, then I think pretty quickly it'll be realized that MTs are no different than any other highly trained worker with skills that can be applied to many other types of jobs that offer better working conditions, benefits and pay. More and more of us are leaving and won't settle for less anymore. Why should we?
