Do not do it. Unfortunately what they are doing is legal. - Federal law

Get an employee mad enough, and they start investigating the laws, which I did. According to federal law, if we worked on site, we would have to be paid while waiting, but because we work at home, they do not have to pay us to wait. The lawmakers logic was, if we work on site, such as in an office, we have no freedom to do anything else, but if we telecommute (work at home), we have the freedom to do other things, such as laundry, etc.

This really stinks! But nobody, except us, care if we can make enough money to pay our bills.

This "make up" your hours seems questionable in my mind, but I have not found laws regarding this. I only found reference to make up time when an employee takes time off, such as for a doctor's appointment, in exchange for working those hours at another time.

Also, from what I found, it is completely legal to make us use our PTO hours when there is no work.

I am not a lawyer, just a person angry enough to look for laws that would protect me.
