Do we have any newbies anymore? I thought all of us pretty much told anyone interested in this field that they would have better luck working at a grocery store as a bagger. The practice of training a new MT with the easy stuff was a short-lived practice years and years ago. Then came all the job ads stating they didn't want new MTs or MTs with less than one year experience. That went by the wayside and then the ads shifted to wanting MTs with at least 10 years of experience. There are not that many easy clinic accounts to be found which the newbies were placed on to gain precious experience, and so that now leaves acute care. You sink or swim on acute care. It will be dangerous in the years to come when all of the veterans will retire or quit and there is no pool of experienced people to type acute care, the difficult foreigners or work the funky shifts because the MTSO's screwed everyone badly with their antics.
