Unfortunately, my facility just changed vendors and went from a smallish company to N because they have the most current technology. I wish that more hospitals would bring work back on site but after saving that much money I doubt if many do it because they recognize the skill set. I have not heard of regular Joes working as scribes, many of the training programs want MAs or CNAs, no one just walks through the door and does that job. I work as an onsite transcription QA specialist after losing my MT job and come in contact with quite a few physicians and clinical staff; I don't know anyone who jokes about screwing people over; many of them regret the direction clinical documentation has taken. Unfortunately, it is all money driven but it is also progress, nothing stays the same forever.
