If the hospitals knew they were paying xyx bucks for work that used to be done by US mts. Now that work is being done in India for an even lower cost to Nuance and hospitals are probably still paying us rates. It may even be a violation of the contract to use overseas work, or they may only start to care when they start seeing lots of errors.
As for the populace, I think they would care if they knew. Point is, they have no idea this is happening. Until it is public, nobody knows how Joe Public will react to knowing their personal information is not as secure as HIPPA leads them to believe.
