If I'm not mistaken, the law states that recording a telephone conversation (or perhaps any conversation?) is only unlawful if neither party is privy to the recording. Thus, if one of the people in the conversation is actually the one doing the recording, then one of the parties to the conversation IS aware of the recording, hence making her recording of her phone convo perfectly legal.
