MT to Coder - Me

Posted: Feb 11th, 2016 - 10:07 am In Reply to: Transcriptionist vs coder. - Please help.

I do think that my MT experience helped greatly in coding. You already know the terminology, anatomy, diseases, medications, etc., regardless of what some coders have to say about that. I honestly think that coding and MT are about the same as far as challenge level, although I know others would disagree about that as well. Sorry, but trying to decipher some doctor's speech is just as bad as trying to decipher their handwriting (well, maybe handwriting is worse in some cases). I am finding coding remotely to be the same old, same old as I dealt with when I was an MT. Currently sitting here with no work available and not getting paid, exactly what I was trying to alleviate by becoming a coder. Time to work onsite, I believe. Just my experience. Yours may differ greatly.
