In MT, all jobs are mostly the same, pay the same, work is the same, etc. Coding is quite different. Everybody gets paid differently, the work is different, many different jobs at many di levels and different circumstances, etc. If you want a better job at better pay, you earn it with credentials. CCS holders do a bit better in the job market. Right now, that difference is being obscured by the hiring frenzy caused by ICD-10, but it is still there.
