Axolotl Transcriptionists - Jujubee

I wouIld like to know what your opinion is on M-modal.  Do you like it or not?  Is it helpful to you?  Are you being nit-picked to death about it?

I have not personally worked on it but have heard NOTHING good about it. - Probably could do a search

[ In Reply To ..]
All I have heard is that it is the worst program there is and that the reason companies use it is because it's cheap. That definitely steered me away from any company that used it. They noted not being able to make any money on it but maybe someone out there has perfected it.

I use M-Modal at another company and it's HORRIBLE. - SM

From what I've heard from others who are on different platforms (like escription), M-Modal is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to VR, and I certainly believe that to be true based on my own experience. Awkward editor, and the system simply DOES NOT learn as it is supposed to. Nine months after moving to the M-Modal VR system we're STILL making the same corrections on the same words and phrases by the same doctors; it has learned nothing. It randomly capitalizes words, ends sentences with commas, and just inserts gibberish all over h**l. We spend far more time editing the c**p it churns out than it would take us to type from scratch, yet we get 40% less pay for the privilege.

I agree completely - southerngirl

I agree completely with all of the above. Same mistakes, same corrections, absolute garbage. It does not learn. I absolutely cannot stand it. Yes, a 40% pay cut to edit something that takes me longer than if I had typed it right in the first place? Absolutely stupid.

not my experience with mmodal, we use it at our company and no problems so far, average 325 lines per hour with 80% of my day being in SR

MModal - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Can I ask how many lines you type an hour? I'm due to transfer over to MModal and am trying to figure out how much of an increase it will be.

Also, I cannot get the fastest DSL AT&T provides because of where I live, and was wondering how this might hinder my production. I have heard that sometimes you have to count to 50 before you get a report.

raw typing depends on the account but typically 225-275 lines per hour... my experience hasn't been that we have to wait for the job, but that's at my company - every company does thing different. Mmodal is just the engine, they don't control the quality setting of the reports - the company does that. Perhaps if you are having bad experiences, it's because your company has their quality setting too low and don't exclude doctors who aren't a good fit for SR.

M-Modal is a piece of _____ - pavlova

[ In Reply To ..]
12 yrs as an MT, and 2 yrs on Mmodal. I get my lines and above, but very much a generic bottom of the barrel piece of junk. I doubt the developers ever edited or typed medical transcription documents, as it is so awkward and user non-friendly. IMO. However, you can keep running from company to company to escape VR, but it will catch up with you eventually. Might as well get out or give in. ANDDDDD....GET READY to take a pay cut.

I have experience with the account, but not M*Modal. - Ax MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know if you already work on the account, but it is absolutely horrendous and QA does nit-pick. The in-house QA people are beyond anal, so our QA has to be too. If you'll read the VR/Speech Recognition board lots of stuff about M*Modal, mostly that it is horrible. Based on all the other responses I personally would not do it.

Doing it now - Queen Bee

I am on "the account" now. Just picture this...Horrendous dictators, ridiculous account rules, on an M-modal platform. This is what you have to look forward to.....A recipe for disaster!!!!

Mar 03, 2010

Is it only me or is anyone else losing serious money here?  for the past 6 months I have NOT been able to make more than 950 dollars a month take-home.  now with the new program my pay is even less.  Please, is this happening to anyone else or am I being singled out.  no matter what I do I cannot make more than 220 to 250 dollars a week in may paycheck, and am onily getting paid twice a month.  I am short about 6 hours with mmodal now.  IS IT JUST ME they are doing this to?  ...

Does Axolotl Have An Incentive Plan?
Jul 28, 2010

Hi--have seen mixed opinions about Axolotl from this board, especially lately. Considering switching from my current company as the M-Modal is awful and line count is suffering a lot because of it. What I'd like to know is: - Does Axolotl have an incentive plan based on lines produced? - Are full time employees required to work 40 hours a week and stick to a set-in-stone schedule, and are you required to work a weekend day? - Is there plenty of work to go around and i ...

United Health/Axolotl
Aug 06, 2011

Recently started with Axolotl (now part of United Health Group). I have 18 years experience and the account they put me on has to be THE WORST I have ever experienced, 99.9% horrible ESL's, on top of which their M*Modal platform is very, very slow. I have worked at other companies using M*Modal and did not find this to be the case with them. This account is VR and they pay by the hour because apparently the dictators and platform are so bad, an MT can't make any money by the line. Also ...

Ex Axolotl/OptumInsight/Ingenix/UHG MTs Please Read
Jul 10, 2013

2 MTs are filing a TAA petition.  3 are needed to apply online ourselves.   It is just a petition, nothing against the employer and, if nothing comes of it, at least we stood up to let the federal government know we are losing our jobs to overseas and due to technology.  You would think we could get some help as IT people, auto industry, and many others do get assistance when their jobs are lost.   It would be an interesting statistic to see how many MTs in this country hav ...

Transcriptionists With ADD.... I Think Im One Of Them!
Feb 10, 2010

make a living being an MT?  In addition to how low our pay has gotten, and the myriad other problems that we all deal with, if you can't focus, do you think that is cutting into your finances as well? I've always had a suspicion that I have ADD.  Was a totally hyper kid.  Daydreamer in school.  High IQ (148), labelled as "gifted" in 1st Grade, yet with each passing year did less and less well in school.  Looked out the window and zoned out more than I paid att ...
