accounts. I just wandered if they were still in the transcription business.

don't do it - MT

...unless you are young. last downsize, over 80 people let go, all over 40.

Of the 80, only 11 were MTs and 1 was a QA, All the MTs - op

were over 40, though some left were over 50 and at least 2 were in their 60s. At least 11 of the 80 were under 40, with some in their early 20s.

company-wide, all over 40 - MT

not to mention, it was called job elimination for downsizing.

this is not an Axolotl company - it is United HealthGroup.

I advise anyone to research this company. They are basically from India, and have a very bad turn-over and many complaints on job boards.

there was no explanation from the supervisors whatsoever, no communication about anything.

there were supposedly approx 50 MTs, so letting 10 go, must have been problems. some had retraining for an entirely different job.

the way it was done was underhanded as well.

just be very wary - that is my opinion.

no fairness, bad communication, treated less than a person.
Not all over 40. I was one of the 10 and I have a list of positions - ex-OI

(not names) eliminated with the ages of people in each position. It also shows the ages of the ones not let go. This is something required by law.

Many people know the company as Axolotl. After buyouts and name changes I'm unsure what the name is now, but United Health Group was on the paycheck.

They have offices in several countries.

The layoffs were not performance-based. They had lost a couple of large accounts and for over a year there had not been sufficient work. I'm not sure what the retraining was about, as it didn't go anywhere, and some of those positions were eliminated as well.

It was very underhanded, but from what I have been reading this is the way they operate. They buy a company or two or three, take pieces parts and lay off the rest of them.

I think there were only about 45 MTs and QA total before the layoff. I'm not sure if the transcription manager got laid off as well, which would take the number down to about 34.
thank you... - MT

it was underhanded whatever happened.

Is Anyone Else Concerned About Axolotl, Formerly Ingenix And Now Optuminsight??
Oct 11, 2011

I am sorry to bring this up here, but I just wanted to know if anyone else who works for Optuminsight, or Axolotl is concerned about where the transcription portion of the company is going?  I have noticed the workload has diminshed significantly since the takeover.  There have been people who have been there for a significant amount of time retiring or quitting.  Even the Optuminsight website says nothing about transcription nor does United Health Group.  The letter to the c ...

Ex Axolotl/OptumInsight/Ingenix/UHG MTs Please Read
Jul 10, 2013

2 MTs are filing a TAA petition.  3 are needed to apply online ourselves.   It is just a petition, nothing against the employer and, if nothing comes of it, at least we stood up to let the federal government know we are losing our jobs to overseas and due to technology.  You would think we could get some help as IT people, auto industry, and many others do get assistance when their jobs are lost.   It would be an interesting statistic to see how many MTs in this country hav ...

Part-time Transcription
Feb 05, 2014

Does anyone know where an MT can work very part-time and have American dictators - I am a retired MT - I quit because I was getting too many ESLs and lots of the good dictators were going to India - sometimes I miss it as retirement isn't for everyone but if I could just make my own hours and be very part-time I would consider it.  I don't have a clue who hires part-time and who has American doctors with good speaking sound - Not sure if anything like this exists today - anyway - ...

Does Axolotl Have An Incentive Plan?
Jul 28, 2010

Hi--have seen mixed opinions about Axolotl from this board, especially lately. Considering switching from my current company as the M-Modal is awful and line count is suffering a lot because of it. What I'd like to know is: - Does Axolotl have an incentive plan based on lines produced? - Are full time employees required to work 40 hours a week and stick to a set-in-stone schedule, and are you required to work a weekend day? - Is there plenty of work to go around and i ...

United Health/Axolotl
Aug 06, 2011

Recently started with Axolotl (now part of United Health Group). I have 18 years experience and the account they put me on has to be THE WORST I have ever experienced, 99.9% horrible ESL's, on top of which their M*Modal platform is very, very slow. I have worked at other companies using M*Modal and did not find this to be the case with them. This account is VR and they pay by the hour because apparently the dictators and platform are so bad, an MT can't make any money by the line. Also ...
