Looking for a new keyboard to replace MS Natural Elite. - Please see message.

Posted: Jun 30, 2013

Has anyone found a good replacement for their Microsoft Natural Elite keyboard? I'm trying to find something with the same, or very similar, keypad layout. I have a Kinesis Freestyle and just cannot get used to the placement. Very frustrating. I then bought a Microsoft Ergo 4000 and found out afterward many people (myself included) are complaining about a design flaw with the spacebar. An Amazon seller has a Natural Elite for $189, a bit out of my price range right now. So, if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

I'm always on the lookout for a perfect keyboard and have yet to find one I've fallen in love with.

Hey, have you checked Ebay? Here's a listing for one that says works perfectly, just needs to be cleaned. They actually have a bunch of the Natural Elite. I don't have time now to check which are used and which are new, but I think you can beat the heck out of that $189 on Amazon.

Good luck...Here's the link to the Ebay listing. HTH.

I always forget about Ebay. There are some other used and new ones listed. Will check them all out, but first wanted to thank you for the reminder and the link.

I have a Perixx Periboard-512 - sm

It has the same arrow configuration (and home, end, delete, etc. configuration) as the Elite, it looks like. I find that configuration much more comfortable.

It also has a nice soft touch.

I ordered it from Amazon for $30 to $40? I can't remember the exact price, but it was not expensive.

I also ordered an Adesso True Form Media at the same time, but the touch was way to stiff and the arrow configuration was the more common one.

Thanks for posting this. I'm the Goldilocks of keyboards, always looking for the "perfect keyboard", and I hadn't heard of this one. It looks identical to the Microsoft Natural the other poster inquired about. I'm going to give this one a whirl after I wear out my 4000. Thanks for posting :-)

LOL Goldilock of keyboards!! - you are welcom

I tell you. I was pretty much on a mission myself. My Microsoft Ergo (not Elite) was getting mushed out and I really wanted to get something I liked. That's why I ordered 2 different keyboards. If neither was "right" I'd go back to the Microsoft I had, although my mission was to get the arrow layout like the Elite.

Glad to help an MT after my own heart! :-)

Here is a place that has them for $72.00 - Old Pro

I found this for you:

Caveat: I have not done business with these people, so am giving the company neither a yay or a nay. When I learned that the microsoft natural elite was going out of production, I bought 10 and have them socked, as they are all I will use. Although I am not doing full-time MT now, I still like them for general keyboarding. Good luck!

das keyboard sure worth looking at - jodi

See if Das Keyboard has a layout you like. I adore mine, like the old IBM Selectric, great touch.

When Do You Replace Your Keyboard
Jun 14, 2011

I'm trying to stockpile a 2-year supply (wishful thinking?) of Memorex TS1100 keyboards.  I don't think they are being made any more, so I find them on eBay. I use them untill all the print is off the letter keys, all the plastic is gone from several of the letters leaving the metal exposed, there is a piece missing on the space bar where my right thumb goes, and then I dump them.  Do you think I should them longer than this.  I've only ever had one STOP working (I ...

2-3 Newbies To Replace 1 Veteran MT
Nov 02, 2010

Just read another interesting article in that it is estimated that it will take 2-3 newbie MTs to replace 1 veteran MT.  Something all these corporate MTSOs better start thinking about.  Once they run all the veteran MTs off, find demand is shifting back to onshore transcription, then what are they going to do.  Even if they pay newbies lets say a mere 6 cpl...that's 18 cpl if it takes 3 to replace 1 veteran, and the veteran makes probably 9 cpl (maybe 10) so it is costing th ...

Keyboard

Hello, I am using a Microsoft split keyboard that is just about worn out and would like to know what most of you are using now. After using a split keyboard I do not think I could go back to a regular keyboard. Also, I keep the keyboard slanted to the left slightly which is more comfortable for me, probably because I am left-handed, but it does make to getting to some of the keys on my right hand a little difficult. Anyhow, just curious to see what most of you are using now. Thanks. ...
