Why are they so quick to dock our pay? - Tired

Posted: May 30, 2015

Why do they make such a big deal out of an error, including sending e-mails saying "ERROR ALERT" or making a 3-point error a "critical patient safety error," then docking your pay for same, but if you go back to look at the document or to listen to it again, which you can in Escription, they have NEVER CORRECTED THE ERROR??? I don't think they are that concerned about errors, other than to dock our pay and to shame us. If they were, they would correct the error in the original document. They would send a corrected document to the client. Apparently they just let the error stand, but not before they've lowered our pay for it. It also means you cannot totally trust other peoples' documents when you go to see what the doctor said instead of leaving a blank. Just another way for them to catch us making a mistake, then docking pay. They are hypocrites. Patient safety, my foot!

If they suddenly started sending all corrections - back they would have to admit they are

not delivering the quality originally promised to the customer for what they are paying. Yep, their main concern is patient safety alright.

Screwed - money

Their "so-called" clever ways of screwing you out of your money. Hopefully ten years down the road I can look at the MT industry and see all the big wigs at the MT companies are in prison ...

but I saw this post, and I'm shocked. I'm not an expert on the law, so can anyone explain to me how this is legal?

and I really think it is because most of us are women. They tell you you are stupid and incompetent and withhold your allowance. I bet if they could, they'd smack you upside the head like those poor seamstresses in Thailand.

it is because we are women - bettymcbricker

I totally agree that it is because we are women. I know my husband would never stand for this crap (struggling to make pennies in the middle of the night) but apparently it is fine for me because I need to be home with our toddler during the day. Yes, of course I want to be home with my son during the day (I really do) and I chose this, but it is very hard going from a regular (hospital/union) wage to this appalling pay and staying up all hours to do it. I made nearly double per hour at my high school job. It makes me equally ashamed and furious.

Don't Dock My Pay!
Jan 21, 2015

If, after decades of transcription and getting great production and accuracy scores, I have turned into a nitwit who can't transcribe or edit worth a plugged nickel, just fire me. Don't dock my pay. That's just mean. You make mistakes, too. So do your hoity-toity postauditors. You make me sick. You are destroying us. We are making more mistakes because we're so nervous and stressed out all the time. But that's the point, isn't it? To have us make more mistakes so yo ...

Does M Modal Still Dock Your Pay If...
Mar 28, 2012

Didn't Medquist dock pay in the past for reports sent to QA, maybe over a certain percentage?  Does M Modal do that still?  I currently work for Transcend, which is being bought out by Nuance.  I have satellite internet, which is compatible at Transcend but not compatible at Nuance.  It would only be a matter of time before Nuance changes the platform to their own, which will not work with sat. internet.  So I thought I might as well start looking els ...

Is The New Trend To Dock MT Pay For Excessive QA
May 27, 2010

submission?  I'm with a company that does this (amongst other bordering on unethical things)....I'm sure we all know what company.......cough MQ cough........   Anyway, is it just this horrible company that docks pay for QA over 5% and also if you fail an audit?  I really wouldn't have a problem with docking of pay for failed audits IF they were fair, but this company doesn't know the meaning of the word fair.    Just wondering if there are other ...

Is It The New Thing To Dock MTs Lines For Different Things?
Jul 24, 2012

I have heard of certain services docking the MTs lines for the entire report if they include part of the template that may not have been dictated, if they don't include the template even though it was not dictated, for wrong demo info, for wrong CC info, for wrong dates, for wrong date of service input by system (and left by MT).  Is this an exception or becoming the new norm? ...

Just A Quick Update
Dec 20, 2009

I haven't posted lately, but I thought that I would just drop a line to keep anyone interested up to date.    I am graduating in June with my M.D., near the top of my class. Already passed the boards.  As my classes have progressed it has actually gotten much easier because of my years of transcribing.  I know the treatment for most diseases because I have typed them time and time again.    I know there is a lot of frustration out there because of what ...

I Just Wanted To Take A Quick Minute To Say I Really
Feb 22, 2010

An hour or two ago, I had a word question and put it on the word board and within a matter of five minutes, someone posted the answer.  I know we all have our own opinions and experiences but I am an MT with 20 plus years of experience and my mind just went blank on this word.  Well, I was glad this fellow MT helped me out, so I did not have to send this to QA.  I looked up the word again myself just to be certain not that I doubted this other MT and then I took a minute to thank ...

Quick Transcription Service
Mar 29, 2014

One of over 40 services I applied and sent resumes to in my miserable search for a service that actually has work.  That was over 2 months ago.  They are asking me to test because they pay a whopping $20 per audio hour (which by my crude calculation would end up being about $6 per audio hour).  And apparently they pay through Paypal.  How's that for professional?  This company is in NYC and apparently intent on preying on the continually rising numbers of MTs out th ...
