What is the minimum quality requirement for Nuance. - Is it still 99% quality?

Posted: Sep 23, 2014

Any info for this company would be helpful.  Currently work for a company that has set quality standard to an unachievable number so they can lose US MTs.

We are currently at 99.5%, but we are awaiting the October surprise. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
We all think this "October surprise" is probably another pay cut in some fashion, either by increasing the percentage or something else just as cold and sinister. It may not be a formal pay cut per se, but with insurance premiums about to skyrocket, it will, in essence, be another pay cut because we know these cheapskates won't pay us more as that may cause them to lose a cog in their multimillion dollar lifestyles wheel.

Thanks. You guys are in the same boat I am, - just a different company.

[ In Reply To ..]
It seems this is the way this profession is going. US MTs are an endangered species.

Thanks for your reply.

Why would insurance premiums - skyrocket?

[ In Reply To ..]
Aren't they already high enough for what you get (in essence, basically not a lot until you fork out the huge deductible).

With the grandfathered policies still able to charge high deductibles and out of pockets, I can't imagine what justification they would give for increasing the premiums.

Premium increase is not up to Nuance. - sm

It's what is being reported out there in the news. Insurance companies are raising their premiums, just like they do every year at open enrollment time. This time, however, they are predicted to be higher than ever before.
Yeah, that's the one thing that isn't their fault. - the only thing

Yes it is... - they can shop for coverage
[ In Reply To ..]
Nuance has a large enough labor force, they can shop around for benefits and.... hahahahahaha.... pass the savings along to the employees. OMG, I can't stand it....hahahaha
The entire insurance industry sets the pace. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
This is what obamacare was supposed to fix. It didn't. The insurance companies can still jerk everyone around. Nuance can shop all they want, but the premiums from company to company will not be drastically different.
I think a big issue is the - grandfathering of plans
[ In Reply To ..]
Companies like Nuance do NOT have to comply with all of the regulations of Obamacare and, while they do comply with some (free preventative care, kids up to 26 on plan), invariably I find I would get a better deal if I were able to go on the exchanges, since the deductible is so high with Nuance and EVERYTHING is out of pocket until you reach it PLUS no co-pays.

As far as I can tell the ACA options are not required to have the co-pays, but in my region they do, so that would be a more attractive option for me. Also I guess the fact that I would be eligible for the subsidy, and therefore could get a much better policy for not much more than the Nuance one.

In essence, the difference as far as I'm concerned is that I would like a policy, even if the premiums are higher, where the financial encouragement is to get care, not one that financially penalizes me and pretty much actively discourages me to go to the doctor at all, since even a visit to the GP can set you back over $100.

For myself, I would rather pay 50% more premium and actually get a co-pay to go to GP and specialist for example.

What good is getting a free physical and a free mammogram if you can't afford to follow up with a specialist if something is wrong, or to get an x-ray or CT scan? It's smoke and mirrors, and in my region I would be better off on the exchanges.

So by all means, Nuance, please opt out and allow us to get the exchanges.
They can also contribute MORE toward sm - acuteMLS

the premium and they will never do that. I've worked for companies before that say "the premium has gone up but because you were not afforded a raise this year we are absorbing that"...you know for sure we will never see that from Nuance.

They pass every increase on to us on top of the fact they haven't raised our wages in years.
If they don't absorb this cost AND give us back what they stole, - I see a mass exodus happening.
[ In Reply To ..]
How much do they think we will take?

Sounds like you already work for Nuance. - Stay where you are.

[ In Reply To ..]
...read however far back on this board as you can stomach.

I did not mean to start an argument. - If you just turned 50

Get ready for the end. My company is systematically firing those near retirement age. I never mentioned insurance, but it is a valid point. 12 years service and the end has begun. Should I quit or wait and let them fire me?

Again, Thanks.

Not Many of us left I see - Coincidence?

[ In Reply To ..]
The Sups that are left should really consider their options also. Been through 4 in less than a year. That is 1 every 3 months people. Get it yet?

It's 99% - nm - anon

This (99%) is surprising to me. - Mine is 99.5%.

[ In Reply To ..]
So, does this mean there are different standards for different platforms and/or accounts?

99% versus 99.5% - Unless you are in India

[ In Reply To ..]
Mine is 99% and 99.5% for the (SMH) bonus.

Unless you are in India, the ad for hiring there was less than 99% (I believe it was 98.5%.

Working For Nuance (minimum Wage)
Sep 27, 2014

25 years ago, I had an hourly wage of $11.50 (before I got into transcription), while the minimum wage was $3.35.  So I was making 3x minimum wage. Fast forward to Nuance today, my salary is $7.25, minimum wage.  (BTW, this is my very first minimum wage job of my entire lifetime, back to when I worked as a teenager in the 1970s).  Plus, the medical benefits are awful, and 25 years ago they were good, along with entirely paid by employer. And, Nuance feels the need to employ an a ...

TTS, SGS, Nuance, And Quality Scores.....
Oct 14, 2013

I was wondering why Nuance requires a 99% score from their transcriptionists, but the companies that do their overflow advertise that they require 98%? How can they justify that? If you work for an overflow company, will they fire you if your score is above 98% but less than 99%? Just wondering what I would be getting into at one of these places. Thanks for anything you can share. ...

New Quality Index Vs Old Quality Score
Oct 18, 2014

I ran an error report for all reports, all accounts on my platform for this quarter, 10/1 - 10/18. So far the Quality Index is 84% vs Quality Score 99.18%.  Didn't they advertise this new error scoring as working out in our favor?  Doesn't look like it to me. This is based on 2194 jobs and 105,358 lines audited on E5.  I checked the box that says view all corrections on the correction report. ...

ASR Lph Requirement
Oct 20, 2009

I'm going to start ASR shortly and am wondernig about line counts.  I'm required to do 150 lph of straight transcription.  My CCM keeps saying not to worry about lines and that I'll be able to easily do 300 lph or more with ASR.  Does this mean I now will have two different line counts to meet.  Will I be required to do 300 lph for ASR and 150 lph for straight reports?  I'm confused on this.   Thanks   ...

Cable/ DSL Only Requirement

It is very annoying to see so many companies with a DSL or cable only requirement to apply for a position with them.  I use a fixed wireless connection with Doc-Q-Scribe and with ChartNet with absolutely no problems at alll.  In fact, I am consistently one of the top...or THE top producer of lines every month and I am up against MTs who mostly have cable and DSL.  That cable and DSL only policy is keeping some excellent MTs from applying for positions.  Many of these compan ...

Accuracy Requirement
Mar 09, 2013

Very shortly our accuracy requirement will be 99.6%.  Since this company cares nothing about accuracy, my conclusion is two-fold:  1) As they always have, they are going to use this as a marketing tool.  2) Anyone who falls below 99.6% will have their pay docked thus reducing the company's labor costs even further and will probably result in administrative bonuses.  For new employees - welcome to MM.  For everyone else - get out if you can.  ...

InScribe & 99.5 Requirement
May 13, 2013

I have been offered a position with InScribe and am really on the fence regarding accepting the position or not.  I currently work for Webmedx/Nuance and positively HATE Nuance and looking to get out of there.  The presentation for InScribe says they require all their MTs to maintain a 99.5 score or better and you are only allowed 1 time a year to fall below 99.5.  This scares me to death to be honest.  I am a good transcriptionist and consistently have reports through FIESA ...
