There is a doctor who in almost every report has at least one discrepancy and made a really glaring one and I carefully flagged it with my concern (obviously wrong medication). The QC came back with a "major error" failure to flag. Well I knew without a doubt I had flagged it and I was later proved correct by my supervisor. Why would she do that? Did she think I wouldn't notice? Then I saw that it was the same QC that oftentimes picks apart my reports, changes puncturation and grammar to the wrong thing, etc. Does she do that to everyone? Why when you send something to QC because you are extra careful and want to be sure, they turn around and give you a major error? Makes no sense. Anyway I have her number (begins with HBE) and I am going to question every single thing from now she does. I am so not a vindictive person, but I am so angry about this. They make this job hard enough without manufacturing errors. I hate spending my precious time doing this, but ladies now I say question everything, look at Fiesa and get back at these dishonest (or downright stupid and incompetent) QCs. Before the outrage, I am not saying every QC is like that, I actually get very nice notes from some (usually with a US number), but come on, how can you miss that someone flagged a report? I have seen so many errors I just know I did not make. Anyone else had this experience?

There are a few that are very complimentary who will take the time to tell me "good job" or make a minor correction and not mark off for it as it in no way affects the meaning of the dictation, BUT then you will get the others who will create or mark things off that just amaze me on a daily basis. How they hear things like The at the beginning of a sentence which is not there and doesn't change anything at all etc. I will have to start checking who also and make a note of this. I wish they would realize that their kind words go a long way in boosting my morale or confidence which after having done this for 14 years is at an all time low right now
I think odds are it's a "he" (which, frankly, I also think underscores some of the - ''ego'' often involved). nm

[ In Reply To ..]QC does not need to be having access to OUR reports. I cannot believe that they are able to fool around with our wording. They should have a way of highlighting it and putting notes. Otherwise its going to continue. We should at the least have access to our own originals.

[ In Reply To ..]I left Nuance a couple months ago due to the same problem. I would have up to 10 audits at a time I had to fight to get reversed. Then 2 weeks before the end of the quarter (and I was qualifying for a bonus), they shut down or blocked me from seeing Fiesa and then I got multiple emails about bad audits which I could not even see. Some guy in India was supposed to "fix it," but he never got back with me or answered my emails.

[ In Reply To ..]I worked for Nuance as a QC and I just quit because I couldn't bring myself to mark points off for the dumb, petty stuff they want you to mark off for that has absolutely no bearing on patient care or change in the sentence meaning. It was extremely stressful and I dreaded it. When I was training I had to do MT work first and have it QC'd and I had the same issues with my reports also.

I just got a 91% score on an otherwise perfect report (because it was a short one) for putting "tonsillectomy" instead of "a tonsillectomy." Some ask why we stay with these companies. My reason is that I can retire in less than a year and I don't feel like learning a new job so I can sort of laugh at the craziness. Still get frustrated though. Is there a way to see on our paystub somewhere that we were actually paid time and a half today? I usually do a count on the metrics for the pay period, but the only way I think to make sure they pay us holiday pay is to keep a separate log for today and then do the metrics in two halves (one before today, one after today, and then add the two to what I did today at the holiday rate). OK I am probably getting totally paranoid now, but do you think they manipulate the sound and speed of the dictations? I have been typing for years now for MQ and all of the sudden, the sound is really muffled and I am having to turn the bass down, and I have had to back it up a couple of clicks on the speed. I have this sinking feeling that every so often QA decides they are going to catch a set amount of errors and they go about it. Then, time passes and nothing. Then, it starts up again. I have worked for Medquist 7 years, started out 10 cents a line and I am Tier III ESL accounts. Used to work for transcend before that. We went to ASR and we were told to highlight and correct so we could "train" it.
