Shesh. Been sitting here 6 hours for 3-1/2 hours of work. - dnr

Somehow, I think we should be getting paid for the time we are waiting between jobs, especially since the wait isn't fitting into the 15-minute wait period. - Of course, waiting put under work availability.

try to get your hours in, or you will be next let go - managed out

[ In Reply To ..]
Princess Amy stated that they had to let go those that didnt fit where work availability is needed, meaning... you either work where there is work, Friday night straight through till Sunday night, or you will get managed out.

Sounds like they don't want to pay UE - nm

amy can stick it - jjeggg

If they don't want to pay ue, PROVIDE WORK. Simple as that

I normally work Thursday-Sunday, 2nd shift. - No work then either.

I picked up some swap board hours today.

Swap Board??? We havent used that in years - and only used for like a week!

[ In Reply To ..]
That was a total bust. How are you using it?
My TSM puts in any extra coverage needed. - dnr
[ In Reply To ..]
I figure the needed hours are coverage for people on vacation.

You can put in hours yourself that you want to take off with the hope someone would pick the time, but I have never had faith that enough people check the swap board. Plus, I work rather undesirable hours, 2nd shift.
Swap board works? - MT

Thought the same thing...we were told about it a while ago but as far as I knew it was never working, at least not for my group.

Wow... there is so much work in my area, I almost hope it - goes out of TAT...

[ In Reply To ..]
Would be a little bit of sweet karma for those who lost their jobs due to having no work.

Now we have so much, we are swimming in OT. I just have to wonder how many they actually got rid of.

Good luck with that, I still have NJA - jjeggg

Really? Swimming? - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
If you are "swimming in OT" wouldn't it make sense to send that work over to those who don't have any? We haven't had OT in months and we always had OT, especially on the weekends.

If you are in the West, that is because the work - swam overseas, along with

[ In Reply To ..]
the OT we used to get on weekends.
East - MT
[ In Reply To ..]
Nope in the east. Was told by TSM no additional work has gone overseas..just not as much coming in plus them saying we are working faster..not that we are benefiting from being faster. We've lost work from the EHRs too. Still think it would make more sense to send that work to others who need it then to give some OT.
the north must have talked to the east - same story I heard
[ In Reply To ..]
No work for 6 months, had all the excuses, but the best one was that no work was going overseas, just we were so much faster. Then, they fired a buch of people and suddenly we have hughe amounts of work. Ride it out for 6 months and see if the next round of firings brings you in some work.
Same story in the West. This is too funny! - nm

you should be getting paid if less than 15 minutes (federal law) - justaworker

[ In Reply To ..]
It is a federal law that anyone required to be available but doesn't have work is to be paid for their time. I'm just realizing that MM is apparently not paying anyone else for time less than 15 minutes in between reports and this is going to be an issue. I am lucky to get in 4 hours out of 8 with probably 2 or 3 of those hours less than 15 minutes. "If employees must be on-call elsewhere, you must pay them for those hours over which they have little or no control and which they cannot use for their own enjoyment or benefit. If you place significant restrictions on an employee who is on call, that employee should be paid. There are few hard and fast rules in this area -- but generally, the more constraints you put on an employee, the more likely it is that he or she should be paid."

I Have Been Sitting Here For 4 Hours Waiting For
Jan 11, 2013

to connect.  I can't believe we have to sit here and check back every 15 minutes to see if DQS is back up.  What are the rest of the night crew doing?  Are you checking every 15 minutes?  It is freezing here too and I would rather be in my pj's under the covers with my cat. Sorry to vent but I am starting to feel like a ping pong ball going back and forth into DQS. ...

Best Hours

Only 8 Hours...
Dec 08, 2011

Ok, I'm not as fast as I used to be and the doctors keep giving names of physicians that are not on their list and are spelled different ways so I take the time to look them up because blanks are not a thing I like to leave on a report.  Today we get an email that we can no longer work off the clock which for me is a problem.  Do you take the time to look things up like that or what do you do to get past the OCD of trying not to leave a blank?  I feel like MQ is chasing ...

13 Hours To Go
Feb 20, 2014

I have 13 hours left to work at this company and then I am done.  I am typing what I consider good grammar for the ESLs and not worrying about an audit.  My blood pressure has come down.  I am cruising, not swearing and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train.  This company has been wonderful to me for most of my time as an MT.  I am saddened by the changes that have happened in the last few years.  I am going to work in Central Supp ...

Regarding The PTO And 104 Hours Without Pay...

How Are You Getting Your Hours In?

How are you all getting your hours in with the current low volumes? I do not work without being paid so I will NOT sit around 16 hours a day waiting for a report or 2 to come trickling in. So You Can't Roll Over 40 Hours PTO?

2-hour, 2-hours?
Apr 28, 2010

Hello. I've got something I've been wondering about. I know that when saying something like "There is a 2-hour window ..." I should hyphenate 2-hour. What about when the word is plural? For example, 2 hours, 30 minutes, 4 days, etc. Do I hyphenate there? I work freelance for a lawyer doing SS disabilty claims, and he is extrememly laid back about rules (nor do I get any specific feedback) and I just do what I think is right, so I love to have somewhere I can go for experianc ...

IC With Assigned Hours??
Aug 09, 2010

I thought "IC" meant you worked the hours that met YOUR needs.  You're already taking a hit on benefits and taxes, so it would seem that schedule flexibility would be the only reason to opt for IC status.  I applied for a job that was IC with hours of "any time."  When I interviewed for it, they had very specific hours they wanted their ICs to work - all crappy.  I saw another IC job today that was "flexible" but farther down in the ad it stated "third shift full-time."& ...
