Response to "Don't Get Too Excited" -- Meclizine Won't Help This Time - MT Idiot

Posted: Apr 07, 2010

We've already been notified that "lock-down" has been cancelled until they fix some glitch, hours before I start my shift, so I don't get to see "what happens."

But I certainly tend to agree with you when you say, "don't get too excited" and then extrapolate.

I feel like I've been riding a high-speed rollercoaster for 10 years.  Every time it gets to the top of a hill and I heave a sigh of relief, I find myself being madly flung into the depths of chaos and confusion, and my ability to earn any semblance of a reasonable hourly wage disappearing; and I see a vision of major POVERTY looming ahead of me.  Ten years on this rollercoaster is a LONG TIME --- one gets an overview which can be applied in a statistical analysis for possible outcomes in the near future.

Aside from that, I find it impossible to believe there are not company SPOOKS who make daily visits to this Board.  I posted and threw "everything out there" because I had finally reached the point of complete desperation and the point of no return; i didn't do it because I felt safe.

If there are SPOOKS wandering around on the Board, I wonder what they think of the idea of a letter describing the big national medical transcription providers and what MT/ME work is like..... going to Michellle Obama.

Of course this is totally paranoid.  But don't lock me up yet.  I live in THE REAL WORLD, and more often than not, after 63 years, I've seen it to be a relatively disgusting, nasty place in terms of "what can occur."

We usually just lack the capacity to FEEL the pain of people in other parts of the world who are having the suffering infliicted ON THEM ---- i.e., the banana pickers.  BUT NOW IT'S SUDDENLY US.     I say if we get treated as though we are banana-pickers, then we ARE banana-pickers.   Welcome to the Third World.

The behavior of a company can be so entirely erratic, that they can keep their employees off-balance enough that 'said employees' are suffering from theoretical vertigo most of the time.   I don't think Meclizine is 'gonna help this situation.'

Sad but true. - CA-MT

Remember just a few months ago us wondering about why they were hiring new MTs when we had NJA? They obviously had a card up their sleeve. They wanted to have their soldiers all in a row before making changes that the newbies were willing to handle. Knowing change is never a good thing in this company, and if things weren't uncomfortable enough for us oldies to quit, they start targeting us with less-than-perfect QA scores (WHAT?) Oh, now I get it. This was all a plan to get rid of the higher-paid workers enabling them to line their pockets, or buy out other companies, or develop MT-killing computer programs. Oh, I get it. MT-Idiot, you're right on target.

What's the official tag for those shows where you have to answer categorized questions to win money?

Here's a great idea for a new -- internet-based show.

WILL THIS POST BE PULLED??????

Who wants to answer before the buzzer goes off --- the question --- "Will the latest post of MT Idiot and the following response be pulled -- relegated to "Prayer Requests or Comedy? -- or just plain relegated to NOWHERE?????

I wondered why MQ lost a major NY Hospital account last year - I found out today- St. Vincent Hospital closed, a hospital that had been treating patients for 160 years. This hospital served the the Greenwich Village region of New York City. This was one of four major NYC hospitals that were MQ clients. Now all the people who worked in the inpatient facility - doctors, and union members nurses, technicians, and service employees - are out of work. St. Vincent was the last Catholic hospital to close.

Public hospital workers in NYC are fighting 25% pay cuts.

How many hospitals where other transcriptionists posting here are on the verge of bankruptcy?

While MQ does not treat us right for many reasons - especially believing that threatening termination & pay cuts increases productivity (um MQ spys that does not work), we should understand that this is not all about India, but about the entire health care industry in America, and we transcriptionists are the last drop of the tsunami.

Very well said. - Tired

It is very sad, but unfortunately, true.

Unbanned again.  Long story.  Anyways, I am so excited.  I have an interview on Monday at 3 p.m. at my old in-house facility for a transcription position.  They never, ever have an opening so this is unbelievable.  Would be more money (again) and better vacation/benefits.  I am so hopeful for the first time in a while.  There is hope for us!!!  ...

So Excited...
Feb 22, 2014

I have taken a position with Imedx/GIS and could not be happier to get back into transcription. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I did CNA work for a while, long hours, terrible wear and tear on your body and low pay. I had done CNA work prior to transcription. I also currently work at a school as an aide. Low pay, part time, don't get paid for snow days, etc. At least with transcription, I'm at home, I can be flexible with my hours, don't have to worry about ...

Anyone Else Excited About....
Jul 03, 2014

Clocking in and out as work barely trickles in for the next several days??   Email this morning says to make sure we punch in and out as work will be slow-don't want to have to get MUP. It is ridiculous--knowing this happens around every holiday, we should not have to use PTO for the time there is no work---not for a holiday or ever--none of this is new.... Last year I requested off around a holiday and was told that no part-time employees could have it off (It was Labor Day).   ...

Became even more excited when I read that it was owned by a former transcriptionist and then it hit, pay will start at 7-8 CPL, depending upon experience and oh, hey, all of our transcriptionists are ICs.  What the heck????  Oh well, hopefully one of the 50 companies that I have applied with this week will contact me.  Still beating that worn out path .... Sep 11, 2012

I'm getting everything together to start on a new path. I've been impressed with so many of you who have taken on a new career even though you, like me, are well out of your 30s and 40s. I am inspired by people I've met on here who are changing their lives. I've seen you say that it scares you, but you're doing it anyway. I really have to respect that. Congratulations to all of us! ...

Oh People I'm So Excited
Jul 15, 2013

I had an interview with a tiny local MTSO and tomorrow I start training.  She knows I am not quite ready to totally jump ship and is willing to let me try it out and see how it goes.  I should be able to figure out pretty quickly if I can make good money and if so I can finally say goodbye! The benefits may be a problem, but maybe not.  It's clinic work, all straight typing, with templates, templates, templates!  I can't believe my good luck! ...

Call Me Crazy, But Am Excited To Start With SoftScript
Nov 01, 2010

I know many will think I'm insane, but I used to work for MQ and actually did really well there.  When they switched over to the open pooling, well my line count went down the drain and I quit.  I have since tried to be rehired, but I am on their do not touch list so I cannot even submit an application.  Probably because my supervisor didn't turn in anything about my 2 week notice I left, as she was let go during my two weeks.  Anyway (sorry to ramble), I just signe ...

Apr 03, 2012

I have been talking about going back to school for years now.  Then I did the whole researching of schools and still couldn't make the decision.  Well, last week was the worst week of my life.  I got fired from my main job, by main I mean the one I carried my benefits through (I always have 2 jobs because of the precarious nature of our the MT industry).  My 19-year-old son took my car in the middle of the night while I was asleep without asking and totalled it.  S ...

Can't Seem To Get A Response
Apr 01, 2010

I'm just curious if others are in the same boat as I am.  I have almost 10 years experience as an MT, both acute care and clinic, and I have been sending my resume to many of the job postings on this board.  I think I have received two replies out of probably 20 resumes sent.  Is this pretty much the way it is for others, or do I need to tweak my resume?  Thanks! ...

"You might want to consider re-wording your job posting and re-think your position as you can find yourself in serious trouble with the IRS regarding requiring an independent contractor to work a set schedule.  You are wanting an employee, not an independent contractor, if that contractor has to work a set schedule and 'has to work over.'  The IRS will come down pretty hard on you...especially if someone sends them a copy of your job posting.  So you understand ...
