Need to leave Mmoral - Rusty

I can no longer try to hold out at Mmoral. I have been an MT for 23 years and am at my wit's end. They have broken me and literally broken my family. Lost my car, lost my credit score, and about to lose my mind. I was proud to be an MT, but not working for this company. Anyone can offer the name of a company where you are treated human, like you matter, like you make a difference in the company, are a team? Please let me know. I am losing myself day by day at this place, and can't afford to lose anything else. THANKS SO MUCH!

Some will disagree, but my RN/computer friend who installed EPIC at our local hospital told me 10 years at the most for this career, some 8 or so years ago. It was within 3 years that I lost all my doctors(I worked for myself at home), then went to a MTSO, who would lose accounts and not give us notice, and eventually asked us to pay a fee a year to work there - no thanks. Maybe it is worth looking at the wider picture, and making the change sooner than later to something other than MT. That is your choice, but perhaps something to consider. I will be IRS free in a year or so, no more self employment tax - one of the benefits.

Companies are a lot alike. I'm sorry about your misfortune, but everything you described could have happened at any number of these companies, and in some cases worse i.e. not getting paid or sitting at your computer for hours on end, day after day waiting for work that will never come because the account was lost only to find out about it days later when you receive an email that you're being laid off without notice.

I've read a ton of horror stories on this site about bad experiences MTs have endured with these companies. Unfortunately mmodal is not the only one and neither is Nuance; they just happen to be the biggest at the moment.

I hope you find something better, but if at all possible don't limit your options to just MTSOs, see what else is out there if you're able to work outside the home.

for about 6 months. Where I live there are 2 major hospital corporations and I was lucky enough to get in with one of them on the corporate side of HIM working with transcription support. Making more money, no weekends, and holidays off with pay, plus 2-1/2 weeks vacation. There are jobs out there, you just have to be patient and look. Took me 6 months and dozens of resumes and turn downs, but finally got out after 30 years of being an MT.

Be sure you have enough work hours every 12 months to get family medical leave if you need it. You will need to have 1250 hours for the past 12 months.
