Long ASR reports bogging down computer - SM

Posted: Aug 06, 2010

Does anybody else have the problem of long ASR reports, greater than 10 minutes, gradually start slowing things down the farther you get into it?  It has gotten to the point where I can't even type.  It takes awhile for any changes to even show up on screen and the audio will keep playing for awhile even if my foot isn't on the pedal.

yeah... what the heck is that? - ALL THE TIME THIS HAPPENS

I thought that possibly I was taking too long in the report (like a 10 minute report should take 20 minutes, and maybe I spent 22 minutes).

I never heard it mentioned here so I thought it was me.

I sure would like to know what it is though.

Was telling a friend of mine it's like trying to win a Nascar race in a go-cart. Paid by speed, eh? I had a report take the audio to the very end before I could get back on track and resume editing.

I was told that it is a known issue and they are working on it. This was quite a few months ago. I was told to document the dictator and let them know so they can take them off of ASR. Uh, hello, it's not a dictator issue, its a length issue, which can occur with any dictator. Can't they just make an exception rule for sending to ASR like:
If time is greater than 600 seconds, then do not send through ASR??? Sounds like an easy fix to me.

Sounds like your anti-virus software is updating. - anon

McAfee was awful. Don't notice it with Kapersky.

I used to think it was that - sm

I had mcaffee and it used to do something similar, but this is different. I uninstalled mcaffee awhile ago and it solved that part of the problem, but it still does what the OP says it does. Very consistent; the more edits in the report, the slower it gets. Like trying to run in swamp.

I absolutely have this problem, and nothing has been - done about it yet

it happens to me in long psych reports. Often I am just barely getting to the end of it, struggling all the way. The audio has a hard time matching up with the text, and I can't type/edit as fast as I normally do because of the extreme lag. It's completely ridiculous and annoying. You are definitely not alone.

yep and support blames it on me - NE MT

I have called several times and there is always an excuse like I didn't defrag or delete my cookies or maybe my antivirus is updating. The problem is with MQ and they will find every excuse not to accept responsibility. I even shut down every open application I had open and still barely was able to finish the report. But of course it was me, right?

THANK YOU! I thought it was just me and I thought it was right around the 10 minute mark as well. Sometimes it starts happening before the 10 minute mark on long reports. This is the M-Modal engine at Webmedx by the way!
