DNR DNI versus full code - MKH

Posted: Sep 27, 2012

Wow, now I have something that could have caused someone to die. Right at the end of a long report, VR shows the patient is DNR DNI, when he really said the patient is full code!  How easy that could have been missed!

how could it be missed if you are doing your job? - Doc said full code...

[ In Reply To ..]
VR could have put superman and it would make no difference. Your job is to edit every word.

Yeah, would work great if only... - s/m

[ In Reply To ..]
...if only everyone who edits reports caught and corrected every error. From my experience, not everybody does their job and edits every word properly.

DNR DNI versus full code - Tired of the haters

Does it make you feel superior to be so hateful? Person was only making a comment about what could have happened, you didn't need to respond about them doing their job! What are you an MModal Nazi editor?

Does it make you feel superior - to be hateful as well?

I guess, monkey see, monkey do.
It must. Her holier-than-thou spew is all over this site. - Thinks shes "Wonder-Transcriptionist"... LOL!
[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry - major typo! It should read "YOUR" spew, - not "her" spew. Credit where its due, ya know.

You are out of line telling her "if she was doing her job". You are hateful and if you can't say something constructive or not nasty, leave it alone. The world has enough people like you!!!!!
You are right... - should have said,
[ In Reply To ..]
"OMG... thank goodness you caught that. You have such a keen set of eyes, any regular person would have totally not seen that, I mean, the words dont sound anything alike, but wow! GOOD JOB MT!"

Well, what if the doc was editing his own - speech wreck?

[ In Reply To ..]
... And totally missed it? That's what is scary. It scares me that radiologists are doing their own editing because their data are what docs use to make treatment decisions with.

Where does the VR get this stuff? - MModal Livestock

I swear, it's so bizarre. Back when I was doing ASR, it was the strangest drunken ramblings I've ever seen. It boggles the mind to think they are selling this device as a way to cut down the amount of work we have to do to each report. And as another poster pointed out, doctors are doing it on their own.

The link below is MModal's own description of it for those who haven't seen it. Apparently, they cram the SR machine, an SR editor and a superfluous transcriptionist (I'm not entirely sure what that transcriptionist does in there since its SR) into a puffy cloud made of aerosolized "language and speech understanding," and "work orchestration." I assume these ingredients are then subjected to intense pressure (in the form of verbal and written abuse from CCMs and QA), which renders it into an amalgam. These are then divided out into separate patties of business analytics, report distribution, EHR integration and coding.

After looking at the various diagrams on their website, I now have no clue what my job is.

Maybe they are trying to get rid of ALL Americans - not just the MTs!!!!

[ In Reply To ..]
Change everybody's full code to DNR/DNI and get rid of us all :)

Why not? Americans are just sucking up resources anyway. - LOL! (NM)

NM

hahah yeah, Hello America, this is - your landlord

[ In Reply To ..]
I want you all out by the end of the week. I have a buyer who is interested in the property.

They wont get everybody. Not many can afford to go to - the doctor these days. nm

End Point Versus Endpoint And Hand Grip Versus Handgrip
Mar 13, 2012

Two words that come up often for questioning.  These are strictly used in an orthopedic setting.  Stedman's and Dorland's list end point and hand grip HOWEVER the office transcription manager,  girl is asking for me to correct this to endpoint and handgrip. She is only basing this on what an old medical transcription company she used to work for had her typing. I would rather base it on the  medical reference. The doctors are not even aware this has come up. She is ...

The truth is that transcription has changed and it will never go back to the good old days.  Mmodal sees this too.  They are shifting as is the norm these days.  Nothing is static.  They are transitioning and they are inviting you to go with them.  I am glad to see a training program for coders.  There are not enough coders out here.  Please be prepared to work your butt off.  Take it, work it, and learn it.  Coding is a unique, important, challenging ...

Code Of Conduct, HIPAA?
Nov 12, 2010

What a joke. They come down on us so hard about this, but there is information on ADT we have no reason to see such as SS numbers. Hello all, I thought I would pop on here and let you know what I am enjoying about learning to code.  First off, I am a medical transcriptionist attemtping to transition into a new area.  I started taking the Andrews School program and am enjoying it.  It's difficult, but I am confident I am learning something.  I admit I do struggle with working as an MT because my mind wanders terribly, so badly I often have to go back and re-read the entire report to make certai ...
