Boy, according to ongoing statistics, every time a get a straight - hate ASR

Posted: Mar 08, 2013

typing job, my line count shoots up, and then, the longer I do ASR, the count progressively drops lower and lower. Very aggravating to have to do this horrible ASR we are given. Too many corrections! Too much time to format! Feeling so poor (money) and aggravated, but I start paralegal training next week! Only need this job 11 months (or maybe less as some people find jobs before they finish training!)

How do you even read this thing? - confused

I dont understand at all. Does it calculate for every job? It said something like 46 mouse clicks and I didnt even use the mouse!

It`s an average of the jobs done. Mouse clicks are also an average. - hate ASR

It`s infuriating to watch the proof of how bad their ASR is all night as demonstrated by how my lph shot up with a typing job and then deteriorated as more and more ASR jobs were done. Oh well,at least I can see that my lph are above minimum.

I think the goal is keep the - red and blue lines close together nm

To do that, ASR needs to be very good - 10x better than MM ASR. - hate ASR

[ In Reply To ..]
To get the 2 graph lines to be one, ASR has to be good enough to never have to pause for corrections and formatting format-intensive documents. MM wants us to never take our foot of the pedal. That is one of their primary "tips". If there are only a couple corrections needed, I can do that, but 99% of the ASR I get is, maybe, 50% correct. With the number of corrections needed, if you keep your foot on the pedal, the sound will get too far ahead. I find it dangerous to read the document while listening, edit the huge number of ASR errors while listening, reading ahead while correcting the errors and catching more errors while still working on the corrections. I tried that, even though I think it is dangerous and ended up getting some documents back with errors.

I am so sick and tired of ASR making the same errors again and again. One example is in the PE, even though the doctor never says is, it keeps outputting cardiovascular is, so this has to be removed every single time!
and they want you to attach the cursor - one of their suggestions
[ In Reply To ..]
tried it and lasted about 3 lines. It would work if you didn't have to make a correction after every other word.
That one kills me. I don't even try that anymore. I can make it about 1.5 seconds - before having to unattach it. NM

I edit just as fast as the docs talk - Do it every day
[ In Reply To ..]
I keep the pedal down the whole time and I edit as it goes. Highlight and delete, put in a few words, make a list. I don't use my mouse and use all keystrokes. My goal is double the minimum and most days I am above that. My quality is just fine.

As far as keeping the 2 graphs the same, the one measures how much more productive you would be if you were actually working the whole time and not surfing the net or getting a cup of coffee while you are logged in. Simple enough to punch out when you get up from the computer.

As for the same errors thing, make an expansion and use it. Highlight and use your expansion and the error is corrected.

... on the account. With the ASR on the account I was on up until a couple of months ago, you could do that. The account I'm now is a new account that has been with MModal for only about 5 months and the ASR is much worse than the previous account. I'm wondering if it is because it is a newer account. The sound quality is also much worse with a lot of static and muffled sound. But with this account there is no way you can just hold the pedal down. It is also an Epic account so there are a lot of 1-2 sentence reports because with Epic the dictators only dictate bits and pieces of a report. So you spend a lot of time on ADT, waiting for the patient list to populate, uploading, downloading, etc. My paycheck is about $650 less a month now. The horrible thing is, I volunteered to switch.
If you are waiting - perhaps its the computer
[ In Reply To ..]
I recently upgraded my computer (faster chip) and it has sped things up considerably. My line count has improved and I feel like the computer can keep up with my typing and editing speed now. I know that will not change the ASR quality or sound quality, but could improve uploading and downloading speed. Just my thoughts.
Nope - anon

No. I've gone back to school as a computer science major and I have a very very fast machine. The down/up loading speed is fast but when you do 30-40 reports an hour it adds up. Some of them are only 1-2 lines of text. The slow patient list population for ADT is due to the hospital system and the # of entries it brings up for every patient.

Good luck! - I Got the Heck out

Good luck to you. I got the heck out of this biz completely back in December. Whattamess MT work has become.

Anyway, smart girl---you made a wise decision!

Love the statistics! - Call me crazy

For me, in order to stay focused I need to be watching my line counts and keeping track and pushing myself to go faster. Otherwise I slip into thinking I am doing fine only to find out at the end of the day or shift that I was well below my goals. I used to stop and check every hour or so but now with the lines per hour on the screen after each job I can keep on moving and just check that I am above my goal.

As for the tips and whatnot, I don't care. It is not worth my time to stop and look at their suggestions. I have my own personal goals per hour that I am trying to achieve in order to maintain some semblance of a paycheck and as long as I am doing that then I don't need their suggestions messing me up.

Got My ASR Production/inactive Time Statistics ;)
Jul 10, 2012

Of course I'm over the "target". Hmm.... they us answering the phone, searching the internet and walking away from the work station. One huge cause of inactive time they are conspicuously leaving out is taking the time to read client profiles! - Especially when I am getting many jobs outside of my usual BOB. I'm happy to do a good job - follow the CP, make sure I have the right drug and dosage because the doctor can't pronounce the drug well enough, find the correct name of a s ...

NO Work Again At KS - Ongoing Issue.
Oct 14, 2011

are full of lies.  They try to smooze over what is really happening and keep everyone misinformed.  Pay stinks, benefits stink, communication stinks, overall a STINKY COMPANY. KS claims to help MTs in need of more work (but not at the expense of KS's coffers) and that is simply a lie.  Acute care seems to be the new "golden child" of KS.  Rake in the money while you can acute care MT's, that will soon be over staffed as well.   ...

The Ongoing Saga With M*Modal
Jul 21, 2012

Here we goooooo!  Yesterday another meeting with the HIM manager and CEO quality at our hospital who has recently signed a contract to outsource MTs to M*Modal.  Well, my only interest in the meeting was to find out from HR my options regarding severance, unemployment, etc.  Clearly the managers in attendance are in the honeymoon phase with M*Modal and even had the gall to say she went to a site (forgive me for not remembering) and found M*Modal had 3.8 employee satisfaction with ...

ASR Statistics - I Don't Get It.
Jul 16, 2012

I don't understand the difference between (statistics for production including inactive time) "Your Gross/Active Lines Per Hour" and "M*Modal Average Gross/Active Lines Per Hour". The counts are different with the "M Modal" lines being less. Then there is (statistics without inactive time, ie what they think you should be producing) "Your Net/Keyboard Lines Per Hour" (-inactive time) and "M*Modal Average Net/Keyboard Lines Per Hour". The counts are different with the M Modal count be ...

OK, I Checked My Statistics For
Mar 04, 2010

1-1/2 days of work.  Out of 50 reports I sent 4 to QA (none of which were able to be filled in by QA). The reports I sent to QA totaled over 200 lines!  I did the calculations (lines done divided by lines sent to QA x 100) and I came in over 10%. It is a no-brainer...MQ says they trust me to make the decision to send blanks to QA or the customer, so I will no longer be sending many reports (especially the long ones) to QA once this process is put in place.  I was a ...

DEP MT's And ASR Productivity Statistics

Does anyone get emails weekly or every other week with their statistics for DEP and ASR?  I've been getting these and it includes suggestions to get more productivity such as, using left/right arrows, ctrl+shift+left, etc.  It also give me total gross AST activity length, length of time an ASR job is open, length of time spent making changes to an ASR, total inactivity length.  I don't know what to think about this, except that they want more work out of me. ...

Production Statistics
Jun 21, 2012

Here's what I think is the reason for the production statistics and what I think is going to happen this summer.  I believe that MM will say they are reducing ASR pay to 4 cpl across the board and that we can all increase production by following the recommendations in their emails.  I hope I'm wrong but if this happens and I get 2/3 of what I am making now, they will get 2/3 of the editing I am doing now until they figure it out and fire me.  ...

Interesting Statistics Regarding ESL Physicians
May 08, 2011

If you think you are getting more and more ESL dictators, you are probably right.  According to a public website, there were 2130 Visa petitions/applications and 748 Green Card petitions/applications for PHYSICIANS for the year 2010 alone.  That does not include all the ESL physicians that came into the United States over the previous years.  Yes, some applications were denied, but why do these hospitals feel they need that many foreign physicians to begin with.  If you are ...

ASR Productivity Statistics Rant
Oct 25, 2011

Regarding ASR productivity statistics, measured in ines and hours.  If the goal is to minimize the difference between gross and net LPH by decreasing inactivity length, then instruct all dictators to stop eating, talking to others, pausing, etc when dictating, and stop telling me to limit my time spent researching in one instance and then in another I'm being told to use the multiple resources available--you can't have it both ways! Regarding total mouse clicks:  Get real!&n ...

ASR Proficiency Statistics - So Much Wrong With This!
Nov 16, 2012

I scored low in everything - key strokes, playback speed, editing while audio is playing, etc. Everything they advise plays havoc with accuracy!!!! If I did what they advise me to, I would flunk an audit so bad. I might as well just read the document and edit what looks wrong. Nevermind that reading the document won't do any good because ASR leaves out text, adds text, puts in wrong numbers in the labs, etc. ...

Fluency's Statistics Inaccurate
May 22, 2013

I've noticed for about a month now that when I compare the number of jobs I've done per day on my daily log sheet to Fluency's, it doesn't match. There are usually one or two, sometimes three jobs fewer than what I've actually done. I figure I'll only get minimum wage anyway, so I haven't reported it, but I would like credit for what I do. I wonder if there's a way someone else can be syphoning off my completed work and getting credit for it. ...

Bureau Of Labor Statistics Inaccuracy?

If one were to research it even today on the Internet, they wouldn't know either by looking at government site Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to its site, the median wage in May,2012 is $34,020. That would make it about $18.00 hour, which I'm sure would make you all stop complaining. So has medical tran ...
