No one "leads" anymore, they just direct traffic.  I can remember when the "leaders" used to help their employees so they could get a better line count, get through the hard dictators, or just do whatever was in their power to be encouraging.  Now it seems they just use their positions to grab the good jobs that have good dictators or normal dictations like the ops, collect their pay and act like you are a total burden if you need help.   I can assure you it is not encouraging to talk to a team lead who tells you how much they hate their job, complain about the pay, hate the company but just continue to keep the position because they have free will, but adamantly state they will deny it if they are confronted about it.

I have also worked as a manager and team leader, and I always told the staff that as far as I was concerned I was there as a facilitator for them, to make their jobs easier, to help in any way I could, and I meant it. Since then, I have stepped back from mgmt because I remarried and wanted to have time with my new hubbie. Working as one of the team but not a manager (at a different company) has been enlightening for all the items you mentioned, but most especially for the way my team leader makes me feel like a PIA any time I ask her a question. She clearly does not belong in the position.

and everyone else that works for them. Your post sounds like you think that is the way it is everywhere. It is not. Every place is different. I've been working for the same company for over 5 years. I am treated as well as I was on the first day. They care about the people that work for their company whether they are employees or ICs, and they always welcome suggestions from the MTs on how to make things more efficient. They don't pick and choose and assign "good jobs" to certain people. We all log on and whatever job comes up next is the one we get.

When I do a good job I am told so and we get frequent emails letting us know how much they value our work and input.

It sounds like you are not happy with your place and need to find the right place to work. Not everywhere is like what you describe.

Watching all the good jobs disappear is hard enough. Harder still to be told that cherry picking doesn't exist when we see it constantly. Upper management must not care since they do nothing to stop the team leads from taking all the good jobs.

I can't get my team lead to answer an email but if they need help or are backlogged, they answer email immediately. Just sayin...

I'm leaving Transcend and it's a load off of my chest. I'm sure it's team lead isolated, but mine recently have not been fair, yank me all over the place, pull accounts from me that are good producers.

I've had enough. Got an email last week asking if I wanted to go full-time to secure "job security". They said in the email they would call me the next day. Well, it's a week later, NO call. Same behavior just different person. We had a feedback about a month ago, and believe me, I let them have it.

I am totally shocked by the Transcenders comments. I have been with Transcend for a few years and it is by far one of the best companies I have ever worked for. I have had several TLs due to turn-over, but they have all been great. And I could not ask for a better manager. Maybe if you are so unhappy where you are, ask for a transfer to another region. Of course, I also get yucky dictators, but that is just part of the job. Some days I get nothing but great dictators, but somebody has to do the bad ones as well. Sorry if you don't agree, but I love Transcend.

Here is hoping you never run into low work volumes and they jerk your insurance or you ever get a team lead that cherry picks your account to death. The only company I can say I will never go back to.
