a new "ringtone" on a cell phone or something. I have heard dogs barking, kitties mewwing, etc in the background. one doc had a penchant for clocks and had a room full of them. It was a bit crazy when they all "went off" at midnight! then he got a ring tone for a clock, as well. just a thought. :-)
Definitely frogs, loud croaking ones - just me

They were definitely real croaking frogs, very loud ones. He was at the surgery center on their landline. It is a very nice surgery center, and I cannot imagine how this happened. Cracked me up.... I have heard just about everything but this before...

I have heard birds before and I could tell the guy was outside but I have not heard frogs before. I wonder where the heck he was, sitting by a pond? lol

I thought I'd heard everything, esophageal reflux, flatulence, toilet flushes, putting the recorder on top of a loud machine, music, but never frogs!
I can't find a happy medium. It is too loud when he is loud and too soft when he is soft. It's horrible and hurts and slows me down.
Thanks for any suggestions offered. UGH. ...
Today I had the misfortune to have 2 lo-o-o-ng reports by the same dictator - I suspect someone else had him before me and said No Thanks and passed him on to me. He wouldn't have been bad at all if he'd just speeded up about 5 times faster, and if his son had not been listening to cartoons about 3 feet away. Actually, his mentation was so slow, it was probably his grandson listening to cartoons. At one point, he turned around and asked the kid to turn it down some, a ...
Makes me nuts. The platform I work on is supposed to be cherry picker-proof, but I can't help but notice that if I happen to log on just before my shift, I get nice, long, juicy reports - but the rest of the time I've got nothing but these measly little 30 and 40 second ones. What gives? I use ExText. I think people are just constantly logging on and off and on and off, until they get a nice long report in their queue. I can't imagine any other way th ...
I have been reading the daily posts for weeks now of MTs applying for jobs with MTSOs, large and small, leaving their sometimes current positions to go with a company who advertise they have new accounts, always steady work, never have to worry about NJA. Then, the MTs join these companies/service owners and within a day/sometimes hours, they have now fallen into the category of another day without work/waiting for work, etc. I just don't understand this.
I would think this would be a ...
I have an account where nearly all the doctors seem to be yelling in the microphone or the recording volume is cranked up causing severe distortion of the audio, where turning my own volume down makes them quieter but then I can't make out what they are saying. My CCM has brought this to the facility's attention and some have corrected their ways, but she named a couple of doctors who had refused. Refused!? Why? Because someone is telling you what to d ...
happens right after you upload a job and right before you get the "spellcheck complete" message? I know someone described how to stop that sound before but I can't find it.
I would be so appreciative if someone could let me know.......this thing is driving me CRAZY.
Thanks! :) ...
I do. My faithful dog who sits beside me all day must think I am talking to him, but sometimes when they say the most idiotic things I just feel compelled to respond out loud. It does make me feel better.
On the flipside of that, I wonder if the dictators are thinking to themselves while dictating that they sure hope I don't leave any blanks so they have to fill them in.
It would be fun (?) to get together with some doctors and have a session of "To Tell The Truth A ...
This doctor not only mumbles the name, but mumbles the spelling of the name. I try every which way to spell what I hear, but I get that "no matching results found for the chosen criteria" ALONG WITH THAT *$#$ DING. Its not enough to get that message of not finding the patient, but to hear that ding is driving me crazy....especially with report after report of this same name mumbling man... ...
background. It seems to happen when I am typing fast and maybe the keys get going to fast and then I hear this loud buzz so not sure what that is. It isnt all the time just every now and then. Rather difficult to explain. ...
Hello everyone,
I have downloaded .wav files and tried to play them in Express Scribe and also in Transcription Buddy.
They both play great when first pressing the foot pedal. But when I let up on the pedal, there is a VERY loud buzz that won't go away until I delete the file, and not even after I exit the software.
Each successive time I press and release the foot pedal, the quality of the buzzing changes - loud, soft, different tones - but it never goes away.

I thought there was a way to make that annoying ding sound at the end of the dictation when spell check is complete to sound softer. I have Windows XP. I keep looking in the control panel but it does not seem familiar to me as to the way I used to do it. In some reports if the dictator talks low and then when you reach the end it blasts out my eardrum. TIA. ...
Does anybody know how long a report stays in our specific work pool? I've done a break on a report hoping to get rid of it. But it keeps showing back up. I'm trying to make up some sick time, but I just can't understand this garble and have already spent way too much time trying to decipher it. I've been checking on and off for the last 30 minutes and it keeps showing back up. Help!!!! ...
you wanted to quit mid shift????? Sigh. I had one of those yesterday. Everytime I see his name come up in my cue I cringe!!!! He is horrible. Horrible accent. I did notice though after doing about 3 or 4 of his reports, my ears becames "trained" on him and I get better with him as time went by. But still, he is one that just makes my momentum (sp) drop drastically!
Just venting!!!
Thanks for letting me share. ...
What do you do if you are typing on a document for 780 seconds and the dictator at the very end tells you to cancel this and erase everything because she already dictated it? In all my years I was lucky enough not to get this until now. I was thinking about sending it in anyway because I just spent all this time on it!!!! ...
This doctor says "ah" inbetween just about every other word. So I'm spending all my time in the ASR taking out a bunch of "a's"!!! Wouldn't normally ah vent, but I've ah had her a lot ah today! ...
Coumadin 30 mg per day.
Now, I want to make sure I'm not dreaming here, but that is completely incorrect, right?
Maybe I'm having a brain lapse (been an MT for 20 years) but I want to make sure my thinking is correct that this dosage would probably be lethal?
I'm going to leave a blank for the dosage, but I just wanted to double check with my MT friends. I have listened to it many times, and she is positively saying "30 mg per day."
TIA!! ...
This is what it sounds like.
"His WBC 11.48, and his 12.4 and 37.0 PT/PTT were normal."
It seems like "PT/PTT were normal." Should be a sentence on its own, but then I'm not sure what the 12.4 and 37.0 lab values would be for. Grr...
Any help would be greatly appreciated! ...
I am just curious as to what speed setting to most of you keep it on when doing ASR? I try to keep mine between 8 and 9 unless it's an extremely slow dictator. I would like to increase my line count, but I'm afraid if I speed it up too much I might miss something. ...
What do you do when you absolutely cannot understand what the dictator is saying and you work at home on your own. Can you call the dictator? Can you request to review the other medical records because chances are, the dictator is saying the same thing that appear on those records? ...
ESL dictator with very thick accent states: ...for antibiotic management. NOT with antibiotic management. Please learn to transcribe correctly.
Although it wasn't me who made the mistake, it was all I could do to not put in the QA note: A female is SHE and male is HE and it is vomit not WOMIT, please learn to dictate correctly.
I so wish it was okay to put QA notes to the dictators. ...
This ANP who is dictating can't make up her mind what she wants to say and constantly corrects herself and then keeps yawning, but doesn't stop the recording or even stop speaking while she's yawning. It's annoying me PLUS it's making me sleepy now myself.
More coffee, please!!!! ...
I know this is petty, but for some reason, it grates on my nerves to hear: blah, blah Period space space. Or Colon space space enter.
I mean, please, are we considered that incompentent? but on the other end of the spectrum we have those that don't say any punctuation, which is absolutely fine, but a pause would be nice. It's not necessary to dictate a whole report in one breath. ...
on the phone to correct their grammer? I have this one who always says "chynosis" for cyanosis and "catheterism" for catheterization. It was funny at first, but now very irritating!
Thanks for the vent. ...
