get away from dictator - sm

Posted: Dec 28, 2009

Does anybody know how long a report stays in our specific work pool?  I've done a break on a report hoping to get rid of it.  But it keeps showing back up.  I'm trying to make up some sick time, but I just can't understand this garble and have already spent way too much time trying to decipher it.  I've been checking on and off for the last 30 minutes and it keeps showing back up.  Help!!!!

Yea, thanks. You don't want to do it so just throw it back in so one of us can struggle with it! That is called cherry picking.

That's because you are not supposed to skip - the hard jobs and pass

[ In Reply To ..]
them on to someone else. That would be a version of cherry-picking. We all get our fair share. Just put blanks for the garble and send to QA where your very overworked and underpaid MME will spend the same amount of time if not more that you did trying to decipher the dictation -- only you will be getting 10 cpl for it and MMEs only 3 cpl. Just do your job instead of trying to get out of doing it.

I don't know, but what I do know is - that you

[ In Reply To ..]
aren't supposed to do that.

That is what is known as cherry picking. By not doing the hard job, you send it onto someone else while you end up with something easier.

We all have to take the good with the bad. If that means the report goes back with tons of blanks, so be it. It's really not fair to send it back so someone else has to struggle with it.

Something easier? Is there such a thing? ALL the - sm

jobs I get are crap, spelled capital CRAP! Abandon, break - it doesn't matter - I'll just get more crap!

Thanks for all the wonderful help - sm

For your information, I'm not cherry-picking anything. I don't ever do this type of report or even this client. It was thrown into my pool because my CCM trying to help out another area's backlog.

I was able to finally get in contact with my CCM, who said the report shouldn't have gone to me in the first place and removed it from my pool. Problem solved!

Thanks for all the support from my fellow MQ'rs. I only hope that one day I can return the favor.

I now see why MQ gets such a bad wrap. With workers such as these posters, I'd say it sucked too.

Had you said that in your - original post,

things may have been different.

The way your OP was worded, it seemed as if you were only trying to get away from a crap dictator.

When you are concise in your questions, you get better responses.

If I would have known the report shouldn't have come my way in the first place, I would have posted that info. It really makes no difference now.

However, by judging by the responses many posters gave, I now know not to ask questions here on this board.
I knew this was exactly the kind of response you would get... - Kiki

Whether you "do" that type of report or not, I think your CCM removed it just to not have to deal with you. We ALL are getting different accounts/types especially during this time of year. You would have spent less time just putting a ton of blanks and moving on than to keep on trying to hoist it back-- just for future ref.

No one here is responding out of line. That is cherry-picking plain and simple. Luckily MQ doesn't make that as easy to do as other companies.
I now know - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Call it cherry-picking or whatever you like. But a tier 1 shouldn't be expected to do tier 3 jobs regardless.

As well, CCM wasn't trying NOT to deal with me. It was a mistake that CCM made, appologized for and now has been corrected.
OP - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
You should have said you were tier 1, etc, to begin with and then no one would have accused you of cherry picking. You brought this on yourself in your OP.
OP - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It makes no difference what the circumstance was. I asked a question and got bashed for it. This is just typical fodder on this board. Everyone is really to jump on you in an instant. I brought nothing on myself for not going into more detail in my OP. Those who jumped the gun and assumed I was just trying to get out of doing a report so somebody else could have the crap to do were flat WRONG.

As I mentioned before, I will not post a question again here. There are too many disgruntled MQ'rs ready to jump down your throat for any reason.
I do agree that you should have made yourself - Kiki
[ In Reply To ..]
more clear in the beginning; however, I'm sure you weren't actually trying to cherry pick. That is a very touchy subject with MTs (including myself) as some of us have had to deal with this in the past.

If you are a tier 1 and you get a tier 3 report, such as an operative report...in order to keep it from coming right back at you, you need to change the work type to operative report. I'm not sure if you have already done this, but if you don't you will just keep getting it back.
Thank you Kiki - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
for finally giving me an answer. I never thought to change the work type. If it happens again, I will definitely remember to do that first.

I agree - if we would have known you were tier 1 with a tier 3 job, nobody would have accused you of cherrypicking. Change the report to OP report and break it. It should send it away. I don't believe abandoning it would work. I believe you might want to put a QA note in that the report was entered as incorrect WT?

Maybe so. - Does that make

[ In Reply To ..]
cherry picking ok? I think not.

I get my fair share of crap jobs, absolutely. I get good ones too though, and most of the time, the good outweigh the bad.

At least when I do have a day filled with crap jobs (like today), I know that I didn't pass them off to my fellow MTs because I didn't feel like doing them. I get them done, as fast as I can, even if they have tons of blanks. I don't let them slow me down, and I still get my lines.

Cherry picking is wrong any way you slice it, no matter your reasoning behind it.

My .02.

That's called CHERRY PICKING!!!! - Do the job - then take a break

If you don't challenge yourself, how do you expect to get any better. We're not tier 3 just because we've done what we're familiar and comfortable with all the time. I've done this 30+ years for all work types and dictators and I still get hard jobs. And I NEVER shrug them off to someone else. Ever.

On the other hand - sm - Confuzzeled

Before all this tier stuff started I did OP notes and anything else that came my way. The powers that be decided that I should be a tier 2. Whatever.

I continued to get OP notes and did them for another year before getting a phone call from my CCM who yelled at me for doing them as I wasn't qualified. Again, whatever.

These reports were coded correctly, they were just coming to me. As you know, breaking does no good. Abandon assures that the job will not come back to you. But if you do this, write your CCM a note, give the job #, and explain why you abandoned it.

Don't assume that we lower tiers don't want to be challenged. I've asked several times, several different CCMs, to test up and been denied every time, because they have enough, or so they say.

MQ is cherry picking.... - FrustratedandTired

[ In Reply To ..]
In my BOB where 90% is off-shored, MQ picks the best work and sends to India. Americans get the crap jobs.

give me tier 3 pay - and.....

[ In Reply To ..]
I'll try to wade through those upper tier reports. Otherwise, I don't need a challenge when I'm trying to meet my lines.

I Clearly Hear The Dictator Say
Jan 26, 2010

Coumadin 30 mg per day. Now, I want to make sure I'm not dreaming here, but that is completely incorrect, right? Maybe I'm having a brain lapse (been an MT for 20 years) but I want to make sure my thinking is correct that this dosage would probably be lethal? I'm going to leave a blank for the dosage, but I just wanted to double check with my MT friends.  I have listened to it many times, and she is positively saying "30 mg per day."   TIA!! ...
