E-MAIL BOUNCING NOT MY FAULT -- FINDING GOOD MT'S - Patricia

Posted: Jun 15, 2010

I have been accused of posting on here without a legitimate e-mail.  Now, how can that be when MTStars REQUIRES e-mail validation to post on here.

I cannot explain why my e-mails bounce back and do not get forwarded to me.  But I have in fact used a legitimate e-mail address here with MTStars requiring validation.

Starting trouble again? If you truly are an MTSO, don't you - have better things to do

I bet you have plenty of proofing of your "qualified transcriptionist" for your measley 3 cpl which you so blatently pointed out in your post!

Give that woman a stick and tell her to go find a real - anthill outdoors to stir up; we know shes a fake.

Thank you for the interesting discussion - It is not just MT it seems to be everywhere

[ In Reply To ..]
The lack of work ethic that you speak of seems to be everywhere. I worked in management in a big national corporation before going back to at home MT. Yes, I was making 3 times what I do now, but the stress just wasn't worth it. It is nearly impossible to find people who will do a good job just because they should. Although I always tried to be liberal with my praise and commendations and lift people up to do a better job.

I for one was glad to see your post because it gives me an idea why some of the MTSOs act the way they do. It is nice for us "good" employees out there to know what we are up against convincing employers that yes we will really do what we say we are going to do!! And it gives me an idea why recruiters sometimes seem so crabby and demanding!

And yes, it would be nice if we lived in a world where all these rules were not necessary. But after you've been in management you find out that no matter what you ask people to do they will misunderstand you and so you really NEED to be nitpicky in order to get any consistency.

To get on my soapbox for a minute, I think that a huge part of the problem is the continued trend towards de-personalization of this line of work. When I type my side work for a local doctor I take great pride and ownership in it, because they are local patients and people I may even know! However, when typing on a large 1000 bed hospital account where you are excited just to get the same doctor twice in a row, well you don't have that same ownership of the work.

I know this was a part of the problem at the large (non MT) company I worked at previously. People just don't feel that their work is making any difference and they get discouraged! I know I have found the lack of positive feedback sort of discouraging at times in MT. You only hear something from your employer if you do something wrong!!!

So it does seem that we have created a negative spiral here where the employers treat the employees badly, which makes them act badly to their employers and the cycle goes on. Which came first of course is the age old chicken and the egg debate!! I certainly don't want to defend the practices I hear about with some of these large MTSOs. But I -like- hearing the perspective of management. Perhaps this board should have a manager/team leader/QA board? They need to vent too!

I would suggest to you that using positive feedback can be helpful if you do find that rare person that does a good job just because they should. Let them know they are special! It makes us "good" employees feel appreciated and keeps us from turning in to bad apples too!!

what discussion thread are you speaking about?? You lost me with subject line. - mt2

Interesting discussion - Patricia

Thank you for sharing your insight.

I realize the error here indeed is my expecting MT's who have never hired or trained someone to have a clue what we are talking about.

I posted below in the thread I have trained many MT's and had wonderful gals working for me and gone on to get their own accounts. Currently two MT's with me 8-9 years and love working for me. Look at the two comments above your's. So strange why people are so ugly about my sharing an observation. They are so defensive.

I agree with you wholeheartedly it is not just in MT world. Not much company loyalty out there these days.

I definitely praise MT's that work with me and thank them, sending them a Christmas gift (they can use), etc. VERY appreciative and have been told so. But you just wouldn't even believe the stories I could tell from this past month weeding through 50 resumes and how people have misrepresented themselves.

And for the negative response above, who calls me a fake, how weird. Wonder if she would like to talk to two people from thread below testing to work for me. The apologized for how terribly I was treated on the board here.

And for the other one saying if I was a real MTSO don't I have better things to do, it's called being SELF-EMPLOYED.

Thanks again.

How long have your arms gotten to be? With all that...sm - I just HAVE to ask

self-patting on the back, they must be yards long by now. You leave me wondering how much you look down your nose at the people working for you. It sounds obvious to me that you have that attitude. I'm really glad I have a good job and don't work for you. That's simply MY OPINION.

The e-mail address is real. - wannie

I e-maile through MT stars and it did bounce back, but when I e-mailed from my personal account to the very same e-mail address, it went through and I got a very pleasant, informative response. So, the e-mail address is, indeed, very real.

maybe the MT whose cell phone was off had a similar issue? - sm - anonymous

[ In Reply To ..]
You were pretty adamant that the person whose cell was off was at fault and irresponsible. Seems you don't apply the same standards to yourself.

As I said before, good MTs can smell someone like you coming from a mile away, and they're avoiding you. For good reason.

Country Bouncing Hospital
May 23, 2012

Okay, many months ago my area lost an account overseas because, according to the CCM, there were way too many blanks and the client was not happy.  (Why they would think going overseas would make the work better, I don't know).  Not too long ago, that account has come back to US soil saying that there were still getting too many blanks.  Once again, they are complaining of too many blanks from the US MTs. I'm thinking that maybe the blank problem has nothing to do wit ...

If You Find Yourself Employed At Nuance Through No Fault Of Your Own, With No Other Choice
Mar 13, 2014

Claim bankruptcy right away because soon you won’t be able to afford debt, and then you won’t be able to afford to file bankruptcy either, and you could lose much more than your self-esteem. You will probably eventually lose that. Buy a cappuccino maker because you won’t be able to buy fancy coffee anymore. You will know exactly what is in it too.  Keep the basics stocked: rice, beans, taters, nuts, fruit, eggs, flour, sugar, etc, because your food budget will be ...

We Are A "dime A Dozen" And It Is Our Own Fault
Jan 30, 2011

We lost something as a profession when we openly proclaimed that we wanted to "work from home" in order to take care of our kids. Men in the workforce do NOT grapple with this issue. They go outside the home to work to provide for their families. They negotiate their pay rates with no shame. We (as women and mothers) relegated ourselves to the status of moms 'taking in laundry' for 'pocket money' when we insisted that working from home was a "benefit.' We ...

Finding Another Job Vent
Oct 31, 2009

I need to find a new job.  The company I'm working for is replacing med transcriptionists with voice recognition and electronic health records.  This is not the first time this has happened either, . . it happened at another hospital I worked for.  The company's response was "you can go work for the service."  Yeah, right, at half the pay.  After working at a good in-house hospital job for nine years, I realize how home MTs are so mistreated.  And, ...

Finding A Job As A New Coder

Finding MT Remote Job
Dec 01, 2012

I recently obtained my Certificate from a community college for Medical Transcription/Coding. I also work full time at our county mental health clinic, scheduling appointments for patients, answering telephones and transcribing reports for 3 psychiatrists (2 speaking in broken Indian dialect). I have submitted many resumes online to all types of transcription agencies and physician's offices.
