Country bouncing hospital - sm

Posted: May 23, 2012

Okay, many months ago my area lost an account overseas because, according to the CCM, there were way too many blanks and the client was not happy.  (Why they would think going overseas would make the work better, I don't know).

Not too long ago, that account has come back to US soil saying that there were still getting too many blanks.

Once again, they are complaining of too many blanks from the US MTs.

I'm thinking that maybe the blank problem has nothing to do with the MTs.  Time to start evaluating the dictators.  From my experience, this client's dictations are horrendous.  Every dictator, who seem to be all ESL (if they even know English), must use a cellphone and none get good reception.  I have never heard audio this bad before.  Looking up old reports is a joke as every one has more holes than words.  I mean seriously, these dictators need to be held accountable.

The docs don't realize how lousy the cellphones are although they should if they use them in RL; but they're not sufficient for transcription use. The acct. manager needs to put out a memo to all docs telling them the blanks are the fault of the poor audio from the cell phones and that they will not be held responsible for blanks due to this, as it's not under the control of the service or MTs. Many docs now dictate from their cars on their drive home, adding another negative, the road noise, to the mix. It sucks and I got tired of this a long time ago.

I hate speaker phones even worse than - cell phones

Should be a hard and fast rule, if they use a speaker phone, the dictation is voided.

Eventually it will be a violation and it won't be on us. - MTlongtime

It will be on the docs. Document each time you have sound issues, and e mail your CCM. They keep track and tell the hospital. If it is documented the HIPAA will be on the doc not us. As long as we document we won't be hurt. Never guess at a blank, then you can get into trouble. Don't send to QA b/c if you can't get it they cannot either. But if there are too many you must document and send to CCM. That way you will be absolutely fine. It is on the doc not you.

E-MAIL BOUNCING NOT MY FAULT -- FINDING GOOD MT'S
Jun 15, 2010

I have been accused of posting on here without a legitimate e-mail.  Now, how can that be when MTStars REQUIRES e-mail validation to post on here. I cannot explain why my e-mails bounce back and do not get forwarded to me.  But I have in fact used a legitimate e-mail address here with MTStars requiring validation. ...

Guys, WHY Are People Across Our Country And Around The Planet
May 01, 2012

Don't think today was that big? When was the last time this happened? This is remarkable, and it is the beginning because it has to be. International business has institutionalized exploitation and ruthless profiteering to the point that there has to be change. Notice that other countries are no longer willing to be where companies go to pay pennies instead of dollars? This is good! This is something BIG building. Look for quiet ways to take a stand now and plan to find a way to build our ...

Working While Visiting A Foreign Country
Jun 12, 2012

Hi All, Because of family "emergency" I may have to go overseas for a few weeks.  I'd like to keep working because I don't have any leave available right now.  I'm wondering if any of you out there have ever brought your laptop and worked from a foreign country.  If so, were there any technical issues?  I know some websites have their access blocked from certain parts of the world and I'm wondering if DocQScribe and DocQManage have any issues like that. ...

The "Blog" Mentality Is Something Our Country And Industry Should Fear
Jul 18, 2012

There is a discussion below about blogs. I've felt for a long time that the whole idea of blogging has some danger flags. First, bloggers talk to us. They represent one philosophy or present facts from one person's viewpoint. Readers can often reply, but any dissenting viewpoints are quickly shut down. Independent thinking is discouraged in a number of ways. We are told what to think, what movies or TV shows to watch, what jobs we should take, what books we should read. It's usual ...

Hospital Job?
May 14, 2011

Just curious if anyone has a remote (long-distance) position with a hospital.  If so, did you have to work inhouse initially before being able to go home or not? My last employer (the current one MTSO I work for stinks so bad I don't even consider them an employer!) was a hospital that was part of a chain.  Of 50 MTs, there was one in Canada, one in Mexico, and one in China.  However, I'm fairy certain that they were Americans who lived locally and then subsequently mov ...

Hospital Pay--is This A JOKE?
Dec 30, 2009

Okay, so halfway out of curiosity, I applied to my local hospital, which is a large regional hospital, for an MT job.  They wanted a "seasoned" MT with CMT, who transcribes 250 lines an hour.  Okay, I thought, they might actually compensate better than I think since they have well-defined high standards.  WRONG!  They are offering $11.35 AN HOUR!  What a slap in the face!  You get a whole extra dollar if you work 2nd shift.  What an insult--they just have ...

Home Vs Hospital
Nov 01, 2010

Was laid off in April.  Have a couple offers from transcription companies, and one from a clinic which is part of a huge school/hospital system in our area, (which actually is through a temp agency).  There are only 2 full-time NP's and a handlful of part-time NP's.  The hospital job is a 45-minute drive, 1-way, in light traffic.  Pay to start is $13, but if this temp goes to permanent, potential is much greater.  The clinic is open M-F, 8-4, closed holidays.&n ...

Getting A Hospital NEVER Received Before, Sm
Jan 11, 2011

Started getting these clinic notes from a hospital definitely not in my region and dictators are not giving out any correct information as to attending or medical record #'s.  what to do when the subjective info on vital signs cannot even be understood at all.  I PRIDE myself on quality work, and have been here at Q for 18 years.  I already took pay cuts, and don't know what to do as QA sup and CCM are not answering, nor is MQMail updated at all.  I am sure they are ...

Working For A Hospital
