Carpal tunnel gloves? - HappyTT

I am starting to have a lot of difficulty with my hands after 24 years of transcribing. I wake up all night long with pain and tingling in my fingers. I am pretty sure I have carpal tunnel. Does anybody wear gloves while they are working to help with carpal tunnel? If so, what kind and where do you get them? TIA

I sleep with the Handeze gloves - they are really comfortable to wear any time. - NM

I have worn Soft-Flex Gloves for many, many years, and honestly do not think I would be transcribing if not for them. You can google it and find their website.

They are less than $30.00, come in several sizes and colors.

I use IMAK SmartGloves from Staples and also an ergonomic keyboard. It took awhile getting used to the Microsoft ergonomic keyboard, but it was well worth it! I'm now pain free!

They are not hot at all. They have no metal bars or anything, so they are very comfortable.

I tried an ergnomic keyboard and it did not work for me. I know people who sweat by them too ...

Chair/keyboard height is a big one for me. My poor kids get yelled at if they sit in my chair and change the height of it. LOL

Also, I have found the SoftFlex company very easy to work with; i.e., got the wrong size once and they exchanged w/o a problem.

as far as occupational hazards? Are we more prone to head and neck disease because of earphone usage? Arthritis because of all the hand work? The surgeon is saying on carpal tunnel OP report: A s/l "sin" was placed, and there was direct visualization of the release back to 2-cm proximal to the distal palmar crease. I was wondering if anyone has tried either the Kinesis contoured, Kinesis Freestyle, Goldtouch, or SafeType keyboards. I am doing a carpal tunnel release. Dictator states "Next marking was made in the safe zone 5 mm ulnar to the 'interthecal' (he spells this out as interthecal) depression in line with the 3rd web space approaching but not crossing Kaplan cardinal line and approaching but not crossing proximally the wrist crease." I would like to know exactly where else you would get it from when you're doing 8 hours a day, 5 days a week full-time job for one company for the past 20+ years. Apparently they are fingerless gloves made of something called Med-a-Likra. Supposedly they "massage" your wrists as you work. They just look like Isotoner gloves. I was hoping someone has used these and has an opinion on them before I shell out the 20 bux. Thanks! :) ...

I have a two-fold question here. Has anyone tried the arthritis gloves from transcripotion gear that are designed to keep your hands warm in the winter (sorry to say that awful word but it is coming), and the stiffness when I am cold is very hard to take in terms of speed and loosening up. Second fold, has anyone tried the mechanical keyboards? The ones that area not the "soft touch" and actually make a clicking sound? The only ones I am finding are ones for "gamers" ...
