Anybody ever try this..(read inside) - MToldandtired

Posted: Sep 24, 2012

My job is extremely stressful these days b/c of constant threatening e mails to the whole team by our manager.

I really don't want to look at e mails anymore.  They are making me feel really bad about the job.  But the work itself is good and the pay is minimum wage (of course).  So I can't quit.  I am thinking about not looking at e mails.

Has anyone been able to continue working without getting in trouble by not reading e mails. What is the longest you have gone without looking at them.

I guess I am hesitant not to read them in case something is important in there.  But this way of managing is really getting to me and they really have nothing to do with the job per se except to upset me.

What would you do...

I dont know about you, but those bad, blanket emails? I KNOW they - are talkin bout everyone else, not me.

Thats what I do. Deny, Deny, Deny.

I guess I won't be able to even see the emails - much longer...

If I am not mentioned by name, none of it pertains to me. - nm

I get those too. You should read them. - Look at it this way.

It gives you a sense of what management has a problem with. If it does not pertain to you, skim it, delete it, don't worry about it. It should also give you a sense, if it does not pertain to you, that you are doing a good job.

I would not recommend NOT reading them because, like you said, what if there were something important in there that did pertain to you and you got caught ignoring pertinent instructions.

I have received the very kind of e-mails that you are talking about for years. They were so rude and so offensive that for a couple years they bothered me a lot. I was very intimidated, but I got used to it, and now I just skim and delete. I know I am doing a good job. I have to. I need the money and the job, but they did make me realize that there are many unreliable MTs who do not work when they are scheduled, and often do not do the minimum line count. Makes me look good, so it does not bother me anymore.

I get those as well - (sm)

I do read them because I do not want to miss anything important, but most of the trouble and stuff that management has a problem with seems to be on one account that has really strange account specifics and is an account I don't even work on. Some of the stuff that is addressed, though, makes me ashamed to even be an MT, you know? Like a mass e-mail stating an MT is transcribing "permanent" for "per minute" as in, "pulse is 68 permanent." That to me really should be addressed with the person individually. Part of the problem, though, is that the facility may have just gotten a complaint from a doctor that some MT is transcribing something incorrectly, and the MTSO may not know which individual MT is making the mistake.

We should be paid as are other employees required to read the email. - Morgan
