iMedX mergers - sm

I just want to say how sorry I am for those of you at TT. This had to have hit you guys like a ton of bricks.

iMedX is heavily technology-based. You will likely not see a lot of changes for a several months (they seem to be in the buying phase) but once the dust settles, I would imagine a significant percentage of their MTs will be gone. Technology combined with their significant Indian presence, there just simply wont be the need.

I'll be really anxious to hear what clients begin to say about six months from now or if they will have finally just settled for what they get as a document is what they get no matter how it's created.

Thank God I just got out of there in January. There are companies out there who are hiring expressly transcriptionists (SoftScribe is one but you'd better know ADHI-II if you want to work for them) so I think unless voice wreck gets better fast there are going to be a lot more of them. I so enjoy just transcribing again (although not working for that outfit...yet)

They took over my MTSO not long ago. We were all told all will be well, so far it has, BUT really waiting for the other shoe to drop. Luckily I have another IC job I can go full-time at so I will be okay but not everyone has the backup.

Sad that we need two jobs to insure income and to make enough money as it is. But I have other irons in the fire as well and expect to just be doing MT on the side for gas money in about six months. Don't think I will fully leave for a while (hoping for another 10 years) unless I have no choice in the matter. I hope all affected by the wave of iMedX make it through okay.

I loved working for TT. Over the last 3 years, I have worked for 3 companies and they were all bought out by MModal except this last one. If it had come up that MModal was buying TT out, I would have quit the moment I read about it. There isn't enough money in the world to work for those people again, NONE.

I wish my fellow MTs well though.

As a current DTS employee and having gone through a merger before, being acquired by MQ from a different company, the merger was not good. MTs who worked previously for companies bought out by Nuance I was wondering did any of you work using satellite internet? If so, what happened when you Nuance took over as Nuance says no satellite? Have had me feeling as if some of us who have been at Transcend longer were not offered what they have been offering recently, maybe that is why I have seen so many people leave. What we were told is that it was a "partnership". They were just described to us as a new HR company taking over our HR Department.
