TransTech Oncology MTs - Marilyn

Posted: Oct 04, 2012

I've read the most recent comments on TransTech, but would like to hear from someone who currently works for them doing Oncology transcription preferably (although any other MTs who currently work for them feel free to reply as well). They are currently advertising for Oncology MTs so can anyone tell me:

1) Is there always enough work to stay busy and are the doctors decent dictators or lots of ESLs?  2) How is the cpl rate?  3) Are you an IC or an employee with this company?  4) Are they nice folks to work for?  5) Are you happy working there and making a decent living?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can supply any current information!

I am not currently working for them, but I did work on one of their oncology accounts this past year. In answer to your questions, I always had enough work. I was on VR and did not have very many difficult dictators, but there are tons of ESL, but that doesn't mean they are difficult. The cpl rate was above standard rates. I believe you have to be an employee.

I do believe you could make a decent living there. They are a solid company. They are very strict with quality and adhering to a schedule.

Are they nice? Let me just say it's not the cosiest place to work.

Type of Reports? - Rosie

I also appreciate the input on this company. One question:
Are the reports long enough to make a decent line count? I was stuck on an account with another company where the dictations were only a few seconds long. Rare consults or H&Ps.
Thanks for the info!

I also work on an oncology account and running out of work. TransTech is not the worst company out there, but no work is extremely FRUSTRATING. I can barely feed my children.

In response to your TransTech questions - Kimme

1) No, not always enough work to stay busy, fairly decent dictators, lots of ESLs. 2) Low cpl rate. 3) Current employee 4) Nice at times, but overall no. 5) Happy no. Making a decent living NO. Happy to answer any other questions.

Thanks so much for the replies and for answering all my questions! I certainly don't want to apply if I'm not making a positive move. It's so frustrating these days with all these companies paying such low cpl rates when you've worked all your life gaining experience, but now don't get paid for it! Sounds like TransTech is on the same par with most other companies these days for MTs.

Give them a try - TTer

Hi, Please give them a try. I have had a positive experience. I don't work on the oncology accounts but other ones and for the most part I had work, I just have to move through 5 accounts sometimes to get them. The pay is average and you can make a living if you apply yourself. They are a good company in my opinion.
Not enough work - For TT MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I left TT because I was not making enough money, even on 5 accounts, but there was hardly any work. Most of the time I barely got any H&Ps or consults, and very low minutes per report. Could not make a living that way. VR was over 95% of my work. Found that telling everyone the same thing was difficult for them..if you asked an opinion or for help from 1 person this person would tell you one thing, the next person told the exact opposite and so on. When the pay period came to an end it was a scramble to get lines, and I would have a great job in my queue and then when I went to get it, the job was gone! This happened many, many times. I was told this was a ghost figure and not really there:) The reason for this, I was told, was that they wanted me to clear up many jobs with low lines to get it cleaned out. In other words, other people were getting good jobs while I cleaned up the garbage! I am glad I am away from this runaround.

Ditto to that. I'm new to TransTech (oncology) and I agree 100%. So glad I left previous job in good standing. I'm headed back there ASAP!

Oh my gosh! You mean you were hired for the Oncology accounts and right from the start don't have enough work? How long have you been there? Thanks so much for this information, as I certainly don't need that! My current account has work, but the line rate is terrible!

Just curious how the new oncology account is going at Transtech that started this past week or so.  I worked on this account for the previous service and cannot imagine the work being done with voice rec.  This large facility was loaded with terrible dictators, highly specialized terminology, and individual physicians with their own preferred specifications, let alone the account had detailed and constantly changing specs.  ...

I know there has been a huge amount of info posted on this company, but I have a specific question. I have never done acute care, but have over 22+ years in medical and radiation oncology, so I'm wondering whether I should even bother applying with them since I don't do acute care? And se ...
