I've been there for 5 years. They have overhired in past few years and the work seems to be feast or famine. The "feast" day is Monday night and Friday night as of late on my 4 accounts. For me, it presents a problem because I have Monday's off and working 14 hours on Friday is tough to pull off every week. The rest of days are famine (Thursday afternoon being the absolute worst) - for me at least.

It seems that every time there are jobs within 6 hours of going out of TAT, there's an "all hands on deck" emergency email. They (TT management) totally freak out when any job is getting even CLOSE to being out of TAT. Some call it micromanaging.

They seem to panic if they even think they are getting CLOSE to the TAT. I get stuck working at least one of my supposed days off because I am always short of work. Then on my regular days, there is practically nothing, yet I am supposed to sit by the computer the whole shift and eagerly await a job to pop up and get right on that before it has a chance to even "get cold". As I have posted before, on call people in other professions actually get PAID to be on call, but not us lowly MTs. I guess we don't have a life, so we are just supposed to sit by the computer and wait.

"TAT" has turned into nothing but "BS". If they - want it that bad, should type it themselves.

I don't even care about TAT anymore. It's like the little boy who cried "wolf". They go into apoplexy every time a report is about to go into "TAT" (even if it's hours from doing so), and ya know what? It's no longer an "emergency". I start tuning it all out. So next time a *real* "emergency" should happen to arise, I'll probably just assume it's the usual false alarm, and go out and have me a beer and watch TV, instead.

I always end up having to work 7 days a week to meet the minimum or at least get close to it. I have 2-3 shifts a week where work is minimal or, if there is actually work on my account, as you point out, an "all hands on deck" emergency email goes out relegating me to a tertiary account on which I cannot make nearly as many lines as on my primary, so it's very discouraging. Darned if we do, darned if we don't.

I work there obviously - how else would I know about the workload - LOL

That's why sometimes I don't bother responding to posts that re-address something discussed half a page down. It's been discussed extensively in the last week; perhaps perusing the threads a bit more carefully before posting a question to which the answer is obvious would avoiding wasting everyone's time.

If you think it's a waste of your time don't post. I hear a lot of this from my current company which off-shores. I like the fact that TT is solely USA and the benefits for my family are appealing.

I actually didn't respond immediately because had the OP went down a quarter of a page, she would have found several threads pertaining to a lack of work at TT. People simply don't bother to read before they post. When I take the time to post a reply to have my employment questioned, yes, I find it irritating that I now have to post yet again to confirm I do indeed work there.

Speaking of which, you indicate your current company off-shores and you like the fact TT doesn't. That's all and good, except for the fact it doesn't pay the bills when there isn't any work. At this stage of the MT business, I'd recommend staying where there's work.

They are just not delegating the work adequately. This is my biggest pet peeve of all time. There will be several thousand jobs in my region and my accounts run out...and then I sit...and wait...and nothing. They say change your hours, well guess what? I already work mostly 2nd shift. I tried to get DocQScribe to load from the DocQManage page for over an hour and finally had to send in a ticket. Is anyone else having this kind of trouble with the system. Finally quit. Except for leaving MM I have never felt such a load taken off my shoulders. I am going to a hospital system where historically they do not treat people like robots, or slaves. I was going to try to hang on here, by hermiting (do my job and not look at e mails, etc) but decided to try to get out and with a lot of job hunting it worked. Always the same old song and dance. The subject of MTs needing more pay per line comes up, and what does the speaker do? Redirect the focus on all the added "upgrades" to their software they plan to buy (probably for hundreds of thousands of dollars) to "help us be more productive". Got news for them. You can only go SO fast. There IS a limit. And after all the emphasis on accountability and accuracy, do they not see that speed just increases errors ...

Am I the only one who runs out of work? I find it very hard at night to keep going with the dreaded no work available. At least during the day, you can clean house, email, pick up the telephone, etc. During the night, you are limited to surfing and staring! Then I am too sleep deprived to pull extra hours to make up for missed line counts. I am doing third shift for the extra incentitive but it doesn't work in my favor if I run out of work! Any ideas? I just got a new laptop and I installed express scribe, which I use on my desktop, and could not load any wav files on the laptop. I did windows updates and that seemed to fix the problem, the files that day I was able to play. A file that came in today I am unable to play though, but still can play the other files from Friday.
